Drilled into the wall in our bathroom. Added line to dry our indoor laundry using laundry dehumidifier. It holds our bedsheet sets and jeans. It’s strong and can hide when not in use.

I purchased this retractable clothesline to be used in an RV. Accordingly, I have not installed it in the way they recommend. (I am just showing you an alternative use, not suggesting that you don’t utilize the recommended installation instructions.) I have attached a video, and some photographs. I utilize this for full-time living in an RV, with a pen a a portable washer. (I tell you that because, my clothes loads are smaller than a residential washer.) This is very sturdy, and made out of solid metal. Mine did not contain any instructions on how to actually install it. (I’ve already assembled mine or I would show you how you do that in the video.) Installation (in the event your didn’t come with instructions, either.): 1. Take it out of the package, and be sure that you don’t lose any of the screws. 2. There is a metal piece on the back of the round clothesline reel that comes off it has 2 screw holes in it. You will detach the round casing from that back piece and screw the back piece into your structure. 3. Make sure that you have the part of the hanger that tilts m/curves up on the BOTTOM side when you mount it. Your round clothesline holder is going to sit weighted on that curved piece. 4. There is a slot at the back/bottom side of the round piece and there is a little hole at the top side of the round piece. 5. Angle the round piece in toward the bottom curved piece. There is a slot where the curved piece slides into the backside of the round clothesline holder. 6. Then, you tilt the holder toward your wall while keeping it on the curved bottom piece. Hold it firmly, and use the small screw and secure it at the top. 7. Install the oval receptacle piece (with a keyhole looking opening) on the opposite wall, where you want the clothesline to terminate. 8. You want to make sure that the smaller portion of the keyhole is going to be closest to the clothesline holder. (In my case. It was horizontal. If you are hanging it at any angle, you will want to keep in mind that you want the narrow portion to receive the tension.) 9. The line retracts and returns pretty easily. You need to make sure it’s unlocked before you go to extend it. The line is extended by pulling on it, firmly but gently. 10. When you get it to your receptacle piece, you put it in the large end and slide it down to the small end. 11. Return to the round clothesline reel, and lock the line in place at the tension you desire. In my video, you will see that I installed mine on the paneling, with command strips. Even so, mine comfortably holds a full load of laundry.
