If you wanted to do something like that, perhaps choose a white or coordinating thin quilting cotton, sew the organza, lace, or burlap to the quilting cotton (around the edge, the size needed for the lampshade), and then adhere the quilting cotton to the styrene. It might be best to stitch exactly the size of the styrene (perhaps trace the styrene on the quilting cotton and stitch along that line; this could be done by hand with a running stitch, using a coordinating thread) to prevent bunching or other similar issues with the materials.
