It just works
I had a problem that I think a lot of people run into — my son wanted to use his PS5 with a monitor that didn’t have built-in speakers. We quickly realised that while the picture looked great, we couldn’t hear a thing. After some research, I learned we needed an HDMI splitter with audio output, and after spending about an hour comparing different models, I settled on this one. The price was fair and the reviews looked promising. When it arrived, setup was simple but you do need to be aware of one thing: you’ll need an extra HDMI cable. The HDMI cable that normally goes from the PS5 to the monitor instead goes into this box, and then you’ll need a second HDMI cable to run from the box to the monitor. For audio, just plug a pair of speakers into the 3.5mm jack, and you’re good to go. Once connected, it worked perfectly. The sound came through instantly, there was no lag, and the picture quality stayed the same. I tucked the box away behind the desk, and now my son has a proper gaming station with both video and sound. It’s been running without any issues and feels like a neat, permanent solution. If you’ve got a console or device you want to hook up to a monitor without speakers, this is exactly what you need. Simple, affordable, and it just works. Highly recommended.

Does not work with new Apple TV 4K
This audio splitter is HDMI 2.0 and Apple TV 4K is HDMI 2.1 so this is not compatible with it. Not the products fault but some may not realize the difference.

Does not work with Rasberry Pi and Windows PC
This works with Fire TV stick, but not with Raspberry Pi ( running LibreELEC), or Windows 10 laptop. HDMI input from both those devices are not dectected and so no video nor audio output.

Best for projector and 5.1 home theater
real review .. these days projectors dont comply with audio functions properly so this audio extractor would be perfect. Perfect 4K Video & 5.1 Surround Sound! Easy Setup! Solved my projector’s ARC issue completely. Gives crisp 4K Netflix video on the projector and true 5.1 Dolby Digital audio on my soundbar. Required Cables to Buy: HDMI Cable: Buy an HDMI 2.0 Hcdp 2.2 complaint (18 Gbps / High Speed) cable to run from the Extractor OUT to your projector/TV. Audio Cable: Buy a standard Digital Optical SPDIF (Toslink) 4k cable to connect from the Extractor to your soundbar. Quick Setup: Set the physical switch on the OREI box to BITSTREAM. On Fire TV: Go to Settings > Display & Audio > Audio > Surround Sound and select Dolby Digital (not DD+). Turn ON Volume Leveler & Dialogue Enhancer in Fire TV audio settings for crystal-clear voices!

Does exactly as advertised
I'm so glad when things actually do what they're supposed to do. Although that seems like a self-evident statement, sadly it doesn't happen as often as it should these days. At any rate, I needed something to split the signal from my Amazon Firestick so I could use my bookshelf stereo system for the audio instead of the sub-par built-in TV speakers. I plugged the Firestick into the input side of this unit, connected an HDMI cable to the TV input, ran an optical cable from this unit to my stereo, plugged in the 5V power supply and presto: worked instantly. I was worried that 4K content might be affected, so quickly loaded some up on the Firestick, but 4K content displayed perfectly. The ONLY knock against this unit is that the instructions provide no guidance on how to set the "TV/Bitstream/2 Ch" selector switch. Luckily, my stereo shows the type of signal when on Optical in, and "Bitstream" was listed as "Unsupported", but I had to otherwise pick between "TV" and "2 Ch" myself by constantly switching between them until I got a feel for which was clearer. I ended up using "2 Ch" for my bookshelf stereo. But don't let that minor point dissuade you from buying if you need such a unit - I'm extremely pleased with the end result.

Got my audio up and running.
I have tried a coupe of different brand that would work with my Samsung TV, Apple TV and Proscan amp . This one worked well. My amp is old and did not work with audio over HDMI, and the Samsung cheaped out and did not have optical out. I am happy.

Solved My Xbox Series X Optical Audio Problem – Compact, Solid Build
I picked this up to get my older optical headset (Astro A50 Gen 1) working with my Xbox Series X, and overall it did exactly what I needed. First off, I was surprised by how compact it is—much smaller than I expected. Despite the size, the build quality feels solid and premium. The all-metal casing is a nice touch and gives it a durable feel. Setup wasn’t completely plug-and-play. It took a bit of fiddling to get the digital handshake working properly, but once everything synced up, it worked reliably without further issues. Most importantly, it solved my problem. I was able to use my older optical headset without needing to replace it, which saved me a decent amount of money.
