Beautiful hunting knife - nice quality and craftsmanship for the price

Very sharp, accurate description, and a very cool design

The Damascus steel blade and hilt/grip pieces were very attractive and untarnished for the most part, and the pattern was uniform. The grip and hilt pieces feel solid with no play, and seem to be cleanly attached. Construction seems great for the price. Now for the negatives: There were a few scratches visible on one side of the blade, however, that I imagine were made during the sharpening process. These were light scratches that were not always visible unless the light hit them right, but you could feel them with a fingernail if you knew where to try. The outer edge/corner of the top of the hilt also had some dings that you could easily feel by running a finger over the edge. The bigger wooden grip section had a sizeable crack in the wood that had been filled in with epoxy coating. I don't know if that is a real weakness that could one day fail, but visually it doesn't look as good as solid wood to me. Since this was a gift and the receiver didn't care about those imperfections, I did not return the knife. Overall, for the price I think it is a good deal. It would have gotten returned by my picky self, however.

Beautiful product very nice razor sharp

First off, this knife isn't even close to full-tang. It's a half tang (the wrong way) at best. If you look at where the blade meets the handle, there's a hole that light passes through because the tang is maybe 1/4 width of the blade, not even wide enough to fill out the fittings. With the weight of such a big blade, this is simply not safe to use. Don't be fooled by the photoshopped pictures; this blade is nearly a machete. I did want a large blade, so the size would be a huge plus -if it was safe-. I know it's a cheap knife. I could ignore all of my other issues with it if it actually had a solid blade. It does not. If you look further into the reviews you'll see someone else found that out the hard way and snapped the blade off the handle. I saw that and tried to cancel the order, but cancelation was refused. I did, however, get refunded without having to return it, which is why this gets 3 stars instead of 0. Secondly, the pattern isn't even close to what's pictured. The stock photos make it look like an acid-etched pattern, but what I got was this pretty terrible print-job. I know that Damascus steel is a myth; the art of forging it was lost centuries ago and hasn't been replicated. I expected a print or an etched blade, but this is just bad lol. Third, some pretty egregious defects all over the blade. There's a dent in the handle, the pommel has some rust spots, the back of the blade has a random grind mark on it, and the "gold" trim isn't even at all. The blade does have a good balance and a serviceable edge, but again, I wouldn't trust it for any kind of use. The sheath is fantastic, actually; it's a very thick, stiff leather with excellent stitching and a strong clasp. The sheath might justify the price on its own, really, if you need a huge sheath for another knife. The fittings themselves and the handle are quite pretty. I'd say buy this if you want an ugly wall-hanger, or if you want some nice fittings, a nice sheath, or a project blade. I will probably attempt to cut a proper tang out of the blade and reset it into the handle for a slightly shorter but much sturdier chopper.

Good knife

I gave this to my dad for Father's day...he said it was the best knife he had ever owned. Beautiful hand crafted desmascus steel. Rose wood handle. Sharp as a razor. Will buy again for myself !!!!!

This knife is very impressive! It is big, very well made, the fit and finish very good and it is true damascus steel. lt is pretty sharp but with a bit of work becomes very sharp. Damascus steel is harder than regular steel, so it takes a bit more to sharpen and must be kept lightly oiled but holds its edge seemingly forever. The sheath is attractive and sturdy, not quite as robust as the knife but the pair should give long and trouble free service. Well worth the nominal cost.

Honestly, hard to find the bad about for this knife. Shipped in a sturdy box, in a heavy leather sheath, knife was in an oily bag prohibiting any rust or tarnish during shipping. Blade and handle are beautiful, no obvious defects or issues, telltale signs of hand machining which gives it an endearing character. Feels really nice and durable in the hand.

I am very pleased with the quality of the knife for the money. The handle has a comfortable grip and is durable. It's decently sharp and beautiful pattern.

I bought this knife for a friend of mine who is in the bush a lot. He chose it himself. When it arrived we were shocked at how large this knife is. Guess that was our fault as the length of the blade is very well stated in the description. Sure looks good and very well made. He keeps it in his 4 wheeler in the summer and in his snow sled in the winter. You just never know when you might need such a knife is what he told me. All and in, a good buy!
