Let me start off by saying JustRite safety fuel cans are not a budget fuel can. With that said, it is one of the best fuel cans on the market. The high quality American made craftsmanship will provide years of reliability. From it's steel construction to the self sealing spill resistant fill/ pour openings to the 10 year warrenty.

These cans are more expensive than the ones you get at your local stores, but they will last you for many years!!! The plastic safety cans are difficult or awkward to operate and typically break in less than a year. These cans are super easy to use, the spout works extremely well, and the flow handle lets you easily dispense the gas into your equipment. All metal construction will not break. Easy to fill as well. Just lift the spring loaded cap. No hard to unscrew caps. This may be the last gas can you will have to buy in your life. I CAN'T RECOMMEND THESE HIGHLY ENOUGH!!!f

Love these gas safety cans. Wish I bought two when I bought one 2 years ago. The price went up, like so many other things. However, I just could not buy an lesser quality one. It's an investment in safe gas can that will last!

UPDATE 12/30/2022: Have had this can and a smaller DOT "over-the-road" transport rated can for over 6 years now and I love them. Have had no issues at all. This is a lifetime product. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I, like many people who store gasoline, had used those cheap plastic containers for years and have never felt safe with them. You may have heard the stories about how they can supposedly split under pressure or even explode since they have no spark arrestors in the spout. And the plastic IS porous allowing evaporation into the atmosphere over time. Read the forum comments on the later model C.A.R.B. approved cans. They leak gas when trying to use them and are just hard to use without spills--that doesn't help the environment nor make them safer to use. With the plastic jugs, I just was not comfortable having these things in my attached garage knowing they would truly fuel any fire once the plastic container melted. I had first hand experience with the benefit of a metal container when I received news that my beloved street motorcycle (with a full tank of gas) had burned in a garage fire. When I inspected the charred remains of the frame and engine, to my surprise, the steel gas tank was STILL full of gas! Some of the aluminum pieces on the bike had melted and were laying in solidified puddles below the bike. But the tank was still intact. This had been a hot fire. But NO explosion or further fueling of the fire. Why? I've been told there is very little oxygen in a properly sealed gas container--the other component required for fire (or an explosion). I had done my research looking at various metal gasoline can manufacturer's products and reading user comments. In my opinion, the Justrite safety can seemed to have the edge over its competitors with their safety features. There are the built-in filler and spout flame arrestors, and the AccuFlow feature that allows you to CONTROL the flow into any gas tank with the handle valve. It just seems to have all of the right components for a safety gas can besides being a strong robust container. They are designed to seal and prevent vapor loss, but also safely vent in a fire instead of bursting under the pressure of expanding vapor and fuel. Yes, the cost of this model is three times the price of a plastic can, but what price do you place on safety? When I considered the cost to rebuild a home, or tragically that of a life, the decision was easy for me. They should last for many years and the company offers replacement parts if needed. In practice, a metal can is going to add some additional weight when lifting. Slight folks, beware of this when choosing larger size cans. But on the plus side, it does easily dispense gasoline into my lawnmower and generator without spills (you may see a few drops drain from the spout however). Now when entering the garage I no longer smell gas fumes with these sealed cans. Build quality, materials and craftsmanship seem to be excellent. I can fully recommend the product.

Good quality product and easy to handle and pour.

Forget all the crappy plastic cans with "high tech" safety pouring spouts. Cheap plastic cans that expand and contract, that will eventually crack. This is a rugged metal can with a great paint coating. Reminiscent of the cans my father had that he got from his father, except this one has a better finish! The only thing that I would fault it for is not having a stopper to put in the pouring nozzle. Yeah, other reviewers said just bend it down. Well, it gets dusty and windy around here. Both the gas can and the stopper are a great buy together! MODIFICATION 03-31-19: STILL, absolutely the best gas can you can get. I got rid of the plastic cans I had. The link for the stopper seems fine on my end, but perhaps it's because it's an Amazon Smile link that it doesn't work for one commentor. Total satisfaction for 2 years + of use. 06-06-2022 - STILL the best can I have ever owned! No dents! No leaks! This can does not sit outside, but is garaged year round and sits on an old bathroom rug my wife was throwing out. Mainly to prevent any underside damage to the paint. Came back today to order another, and it concerns me greatly at the number of dented and leaking cans that Amazon has sent customers and refused replacements. Think I'll be taking my money elsewhere on this one. And my apologies to anyone who went by my 2018 review to make this purchase. Either Justrite or Amazon dropped the ball somewhere.

A well-designed, easy-to-use can, although the aluminum pour spout seems fragile. I purchased a couple of these cans after finding the Eagle cans to be hard to use and leaky. These cans have a completely engineered, cast metal pour valve/filler assembly that is bolted to the top of the can. The pour valve works and feels a lot like a gas-pump nozzle, allowing easy adjustment of the flow of fuel from the can. For those wanting a very fast pour rate, the venting of the can is also done at the pour valve, so you can't just tip the can all the way over and expect a fast pour (which I don't need in most cases anyway) -- you have to tip the can appropriately for its fullness, like pouring from an iced-tea pitcher. The spout seems to be made of thin aluminum, and I'm afraid if I bend it too many times, it won't hold its shape, or may break or leak. (It IS orderable as a replacement part, which is good.) I wish they would offer a flexible rubber or vinyl version, perhaps with a metal wire braid over it. Both of my cans failed to hold a vapor-tight seal, but I was able to correct that by removing a little "flash" in the seam of the casting around the filler hole using a small chainsaw file (this should have been done at the factory). They've sealed perfectly ever since. The good: - strong, welded construction - holds a tight seal - easy to operate (just squeeze), well-engineered, cast metal valve design - replacement spouts in choice of diameters available The bad: - spout does not seem as durable as the rest of the can Whatever: - mine were made in China -- wish it was USA (and some have reported that newer ones are) - I did have to correct minor manufacturing carelessness (described above) to get the cans to seal tightly - the spouts cannot be removed quickly (screws hold them on), so I transport them to the gas station with the spouts attached, and try to be careful not to damage them in the car Recommended. I prefer these cans to Eagle's, and plan to buy more. I wish/hope they're made in USA again.

I have a collection of plastic, metal, new "Jerry Can", new and old .. a fleet of gas cans; The worst of my collection is a JUSTRITE 5gal metal can that has a plastic yellow funnel (JUSTRITE and EAGLE both sell this) - man that is a clumsy pour - but great for storing gas because it is air tight and mostly safe (until you decide to pour from it). Pouring from a heavy metal 5 gallon can is clumsy and you will spill; the funnel spout is rigid so you cannot waver or move a bit as you pour, this is two bad points about the funnel - I absolutely cannot pour from it - it is dangerous; I have challenged a number of friend and family to pour from the funnel-can; yes, it stores gas very very well - especially with STABIL added; The best of my collection is this can; I own two of them, one is 2.5 gallons, and one is 5 gallons; the valve mechanism and the flexible spout are stellar. Five gallons of gas is heavy and clumsy - but this can makes storing and pouring (both) perfectly safe and easy. I keep non-ethanol fuel in these metal cans for hurricane weather. The flapper cap/valve is perfect for this and keeps moisture-laden air out of contact with the fuel; as a result, the fuel can be kept for a year or more very easily. Easily worth every penny - the JUSTRITE 7250130 - I plan to buy several more. If you need to own just one can, this is it; The 2.5 gallon can may be ideal too if you run a few two-cycle (oil/gas) machines.

I was able to get a great price of $126 Canadian for the 5gal Type II with 1" hose. If you haven't tried these gas cans they are amazing and well worth the prize. With the traditional 5 gal plastic jug you end up pulling the spout out of the gas to position it for top pouring. As usually the spout will drip gas and leak around the funnel. With these gas cans you don't get your hands dirty. Simple tilt, insert and squeeze the handle. No over flow issues as you can release the handle as the tank fills. This is the 3rd one I have purchased to replace all my plastic jugs. These cans don't travel in the back of a pick up, they sit in my garage and are used to fill up the ski boat and lawn tractor. They are clean and easy to use.

Best fuel can I have found on the market. Pros: They just work great. All metal construction, good paint, and fantastic valves that can accurately release fuel at the speed you want - from a trickle to wide open. They do not tip, and are just a quality gas can! Hard to find good quality gas cans, but Justrite still makes them! Con: The fill port is spring loaded with a fairly strong spring and does not have a lock open feature for filling. Not a deal breaker, but a little inconvenient if filling from anything other than a metal dispenser nozel.

Gas can is great, no dents or damage. Only issue is the screws provided were too short to attach the nozzle through the little gasket. Contacted the company directly and they are sending out the correct screws, said the get screwed up the odd time in packing. Can’t wait to use it when I get the screws, had it for 1.5 weeks now. Update: waited 4 weeks for proper screws to be sent but now that it’s all together I absolutely love this can. Expensive yes but a can for a lifetime for sure. All in all a great buy.
