What are the sizes????! Capacity? The mesh cell pitch? Is it good to make cottage cheese without cheese cloth?

Approximately holds 2 qt. and I have never made cottage cheese, so I don't know that answer specifically but the mesh is quite fine.

Is the mesh fine enough to work with rice?

I purchased this to wash rice. Works very well

SO GLAD I ORDERED IT!

This strainer is GREAT! I have tried different kinds and enjoy the different ways it can be used--draining fruit, washing vegetables and safely letting the hot water drain from pastas. It fits well on our sink (glad it is expandable) and is very sturdy. I feel like it is safer than my old ones in which I had to hold onto the round strainer or the half moon plastic one and the silicone clip-on kind did not work well at all). There are protection bars on the straining part to give it strength and the ability for it to fit into your sink and not just across it. Good price and excellent product!
