Follow the White Rabbit into this imaginative adult coloring book inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland , featuring intricate pen-and-ink drawings by acclaimed artist Amily Shen. Meet the Cheshire Cat, attend the Mad Hatter's tea party, and play croquet with the Queen of Hearts in this evocative tale that invites you into a strange and beautiful new world of coloring. Review: Fun and Unusual Interpretation of Alice in Wonderland – printed on both sides of the page - I am a big fan of Alice in Wonderland, so I look at all of the various coloring books that have come out with this as their theme and choose my favorites to purchase. “Wonderland” has a really fun and different take on the illustrations compared to my other books (which are generally much more traditional.) In this book, Alice has an updated and trendy vibe that I find very cute. The artist (Amily Shen) has put her spin on the story. The book is both a coloring book (in chapters) and an activity book. I generally do not do the activities but I know that many people do. There is writing on a number of pages but the print is so small, for me, it doesn't distract me from the designs. The book has 76 pages of coloring and activity (including the front piece and the title page.) The book is broken into 9 chapters and each of the chapter title pages has a decorated china plate for coloring. For my first project, I chose a design that included Alice, a bird and a cupcake (both of which show up in several other designs.) I used my Derwent Coloursoft Pencils with a very light touch. The book has a removable dust cover which is nicely decorated with some glossy touches. The dustcover has been printed for coloring as well. The fold-outs (front and back) are black on green and the inside of the cover (from one end to the other) is black on white. The attached cover of the book also has fun coloring opportunities. These designs are black printed on a medium peach and the feel is kind of slick to the touch. Here is an overview of what I noted about the physical book: 76 Pages of Modern Alice in Wonderland inspired Designs Printed on both sides of heavyweight, non-perforated white paper Glue Bound Some Designs merge into the binding area Some designs spread across two pages (in my copy, some lined up better than others) Alcohol-based markers bleed through slightly Water-based markers and India ink pens did not bleed through Gel pens did not bleed through but took extra drying time Coloring pencils worked well in my tests and in my first project as well I test my coloring books with various medium. My tests are not exhaustive as I spend about half an hour per book with my tests. The tests do give me an idea of how the different medium react to the paper but not the experience of coloring a full design. If you are interested in knowing which types of product I used in my tests, I will post those in the comments section below. Review: Time For Us - Mother-Daughter Bonding Over Coloring Books - Since my kids were small, I've colored with them in their coloring books. This is fun but nothing like the mother-daughter bonding Sunshine and I enjoy with our coloring books and colored pencils. In fact, I bought Sunshine a mandela coloring book so that we could color together, but once she saw my big thick Wonderland Coloring Book from Amily Shen, she wanted one for herself. So on our date day, she picked her very own grown up coloring book so we could color together. And color we did, for a few hours! We enjoyed the beautiful day with some music, a coloring book and some colored pencils. It was delightful! From the moment my Wonderland Coloring Book arrived, I was itching to get started coloring. The book follows along with the Alice in Wonderland story and it is beautiful! I love that the words on the page are an inspiration for the illustrations. There is something wonderful about getting lost in words and a bit of color! The illustrations are gorgeous and not overwhelming which, in mommy time, is nice. I can feel as if I accomplished a whole page of beauty and it doesn't take days and days to complete. Some of the pages have extra space for your own additions, which is a fun extra for those creative types. However, even if you don't have a creative bone in your body, this type of coloring book, is a wonderful way to relax, no artistic abilities needed. Just let yourself go and embrace the extra white space! So if you enjoy Alice in Wonderland, are looking for a coloring book that will inspire your creative juices, or want a fun way to bond with your kiddos, this Wonderland Coloring Book is a great option! Relax and enter the world of Alice. Disclaimer – I received this book free from the publisher through the Blogging for Books bloggers program. The opinions stated above are my own.

You're sketching/coloring at the cafe...but wait, did a well dressed white rabbit just run by? Drink if you dare!
This is definitely going into my pile of favorite coloring books! You've gone to the cafe, with your coloring/sketch book, and your eye catches a glimpse of.......was that really a white rabbit running by? You see a potion on the table, labeled "drink me", that wasn't there before, and so you drink it........ It is a really cute, well done coloring book, with a bit of a different take on the story, putting you into the shoes of Alice. Of course, there are the scenes you expect, the white rabbit, the Cheshire Cat, the tea party, and so on. I think it is a cute, fun addition to any coloring book collection, but a must have for those fond of Alice. There are varying levels of difficulty between pages. There are very detailed designs and some less detailed designs (but no less cute) with space for backgrounds, if you wish. Line thickness varies a bit, but I would say it is mainly thin. I'm not sure about the comment of blank space. I think there must be occasional white spaces on pages, otherwise it's just too busy. It's a bit after 12 am here, and pictures of the pages weren't turning out well. I'll attempt to post some of my favorite pages tomorrow.

A Trip Through Wonderland
I grew up with Lewis Carroll's Alice In Wonderland and Through The Looking Glass. I had a Madame Alexander Alice doll when I was a little girl - and I wish I still had her! Everything seems to be coming up Alice lately, thanks to the movie Through The Looking Glass. Here's a great twist on the tale: a coloring book that brings you into the story! It's Wonderland by Amily Shen. Amily Shen has already written three bestselling books on drawing and illustration, and in this book she invites the reader into the story. You begin, sitting at a table in a cafe, sketching and gazing out the window when.... wait.... is that a rabbit? A rabbit with a top hat and watch? Maybe a sip or two of your coffee might help. Except it's no longer there, and in its stead is a potion bottle. "Drink me" it beckons... You leave the coziness of the cafe and begin a journey through nine chapters of coloring, activities (not too many, and they don't detract), and little blurbs of storyline. The paper is nice and sturdy, so colored pencils will work wonderfully on it. I don't really use other things in coloring books, but I'd be a bit leery to do so. This book is fun, fantastical, and a playfully wonderful way to while away some time and relax. If you've been one to eye those adult coloring books but not cared for mandalas and other designs, this might be the perfect book for you to play with. And really, even if you decide you don't care for coloring after trying it, the book is beautifully drawn and fun to look through all on its own! Wonderful Wonderland
Wonderland is a beautifully illustrated coloring book. Definitely inspiring. Filled with your favorite characters from Alice in Wonderland, you'll find the Cheshire Cat, The Mad Hatter, and many others within. All are beautifully designed, and lots of fun to color. The pages are thick, preventing bleeding if you're using colored markers. The cover comes off to reveal additional drawings for coloring, and there's even drawings on the other side of the cover. There are also a few puzzles for you to solve, involving the playing cards. Answer key is in the back of the book. Some of the illustrations leave space for you to add a few of your own drawings. Not something I'm so interested in doing, but a cute idea, nonetheless. I'd say that this is one of the nicer coloring books available on the market today, and you will not be disappointed. A Creative Twist on Adult Coloring Books
Amily Shen, a renowned Taiwanese artist, has created an adult coloring book that is very different from the other ones I've seen on the market. While this particular book is inspired by or based on the Alice in Wonderland movie, you don't have to be a fan of the movie (I dislike it) to appreciate this new approach to coloring. There is a warm, brief introductory text that explains you'll have the opportunity to color and personalize Alice's Adventure. This paperback book has 80 pages that feel like light cardstock to me. I haven't tried them with markers to see whether they would bleed through as I prefer colored pencils. Many spreads of pages have no text at all and are just large coloring pages, a few pages have less than 50% coloring because they have a paragraph updating the story in a simple, charming way. A few pages have prompts asking you to fill in some details on outlined shapes or to sketch additional pictures (to add onto what's printed already) of your own if you'd like. I prefer coloring to sketching, but there were few enough sketching pages that I didn't feel put off by their inclusion. While there were some potentially concerning parts of the movie Alice in Wonderland, the way it is paraphrased here is less intense than the movie or storybooks I've seen by far. The word "stupidest" is used to describe a nonsensical tea party and the Queen still chants, "Off with their heads!" but we've grown less attached to the characters and the whole demeanor of this story line is more upbeat and basic. Like I mentioned above, I dislike the Alice in Wonderland movie because it is nonsensical, and can be a bit harsh and intense for little kids, who would be most interested in the nonsense, in my humble opinion. In a storybook form, however, the nonsensical plot seems to flow better as it adds variety to the coloring pages while still keeping to a theme. You can see by checking out the cover pictured above that the illustrations vary between more natural (bottom half of the cover) to more tiny details for pattern (top half of the cover). I enjoy this mix as I've seen some coloring books which have distinctly one style or the other. Another unique feature I noticed is that the dust jacket (which is what you see pictured at top left) is removable. The inside of the dust jacket is printed like a coloring page with a white background, and the actual cover of the book is printed with black line drawings and a pink background, so you can color the book itself and really make this personalized by using the dust jacket as a standalone coloring page. (See the picture below where the dust jacket is folded out to the left.) There is also an optional "puzzle" included partway through the book, where you're invited to items in the coloring pages throughout the book, such as: 2 fans, 4 pairs of gloves, a playing card who lost his shoe, the missing shoe, and a few other things. This adds another dimension of fun for those who can get a bit tired of themed coloring books. The answers to the puzzle are given in picture form at the back of the book. I would love to see more of these type of story lined coloring books come out, as they remind me of a more whimsical and fairy tale variety of the Dover coloring books our kids are beginning to enjoy now that they have grown into detailed, realistic coloring pages. I think this book would make a great gift item for older kids, teens, or adults and I absolutely agree that coloring is a stress-reducing activity. Some people find they can listen to lectures/speeches/sermons better when allowed to color at the same time. It's a great non-screen activity to get our children (or ourselves) interested in art and using their creativity and imaginations. ** In the interest of full disclosure: I received a copy of this book for free from Blogging for Books in exchange for an honest review. I'm not required to give a positive review. I was rather surprised I liked this one as much as I do!

Wonderfully Different Wonderland
My only knowledge of Alice in Wonderland is bits and pieces of the Disney movie when I was a kid. And that was a loooooong time ago! I do know that this book is totally original, not based on that popular movie. I just love the way Alice is depicted. She looks tres chic in her little hat and pumps! The drawings are all beautifully done artwork. I especially like the White Rabbit's home. (Notice the bottles of gin!) I've already spent hours coloring in this book and will enjoy coloring every page. I've only used colored pencils so far; I like the way the work on this paper. I will definitely buy more from this talented artist. I've attached a number of photos, including the inside of the dust cover (which can be colored) and the cover underneath the jacket.

Great drawings on great paper
I love this coloring book. The designs are cute and quirky, true to the Alice and Wonderland canon. I bought it to bring to work and fill in during slow periods, but it's a little too big for my workspace. I also wouldn't recommend bringing it on road trips, but it easily fits in a laptop bag. The paper isn't porous, but it isn't too glossy either. I wouldn't suggest using watercolors or markers on it, though the paper is fairly thick. I've been using colored pencils and gel pens.

Good quality
A very nice coloring book, different scenes that are connected to the Alice in wonderland stories with some sentences from the book. Good quality and recommend.

Wonderland magnifique
