Can you get refills ?

I gave the pen as a gift. I have no idea whether there are refills or not. I think that the place to start is the website for the people who make the pen.

Is the one face of the pen black and the other chrome or is that just a shadow ?

That is a shadow, the pen is chrome colored and really is a working caliper. I bought my son (who is going to be an engineer) one and he loves it and so did his engineering teacher. It must be gel ink because it writes very smoothly.
