Are these bino's made in the US?

In my opinion, Vortex is an excellent company with an outstanding warranty program. I own this pair of binos and am very pleased with them. As to your question, I did a little digging and here is what I found: Vortex is an American company that operates out of Middleton, WI, but they don't make the glass there. They import. From what I have found, the different lines they offer are made in different countries; the crossfires come out of China; the diamondbacks out of the Philippines, the vipers come from Japan.

Is the Vortex TalonHD worth the upgrade from the Diamondbacks? I will be using the bins for birding most of the time.

That's a great question, The Talon Hd's run about $250-350 more than the Diamondbacks, I Currently own the Diamondback 10 x 42, I'm extremely pleased with them. I would recommend going to a local retailer, like maybe a Cabales? or a store that is very big, and tell the sales clerk you want to compare the Diamondback to the Talon Hd. Then pick something to focus on in the store as far away as possible, and switch back and forth between the two. You may be able to determine if the extra money is worth it? Vortex has a lifetime VIP warranty. If I had the extra money to upgrade to the Talon HD? I would, just because each step up with the Vortex bino's, gets better and better, but I have many different outdoor Items I purchase, so I have to set a budget on each item. Excellent Optics! Do they come with a molded carry case? Or what kind of case??

Yes, they come with a molded zippered carrying case with a strap.

Do the lenses have the water/fog/dust/oil/finger-print repellent coating?

Actually these lenses DO have ArmorTec, an extremely hard coating on them according to the Vortex optics website.
