Mineral based means what exactly, oil based? Like mineral oil?

Only the manufacturer can give you a breakdown of the components in the product. I can only attest to its effectiveness on granite. It was recommended by an excellent stone fabricator In North Carolina. In moving to another state, that fabricator did not seal the granite properly. This product (which we applied ourselves) did the job! I will probably reapply on heavily used areas in another year just to protect the granite.

Can this be used on slate tile?

It can be used on any natural stone, although some are more difficult to seal than others.

Nowhere on the container does it say it is food grade. I do know it is a product made in Italy. It has a telephone number listed. #39 045 688 7593. Fax #39 045 686 2456 Hope this helps.

Great product - highly recommended!

Recommended by our granite installers, this has been very easy to use. It may seem like a very small bottle, but a little bit goes a very long way. We try to apply it every 2 weeks or so. Yes, the smell is off-putting, but it dissipates quickly.

Great seal that repeals water.

The sealer was easy to apply. If you’re sensitive to smells be sure to wear a facemask. It does have a very strong odor. If smells do not bother you it would not require it. The finished sealer did a great job on my granite countertops. It left a finish that repels the water very well and brought out the color of the granite to a little more depth. Just a little not a lot.
