Food is getting stuck in the cracks where the motor is. Is there a good way to clean that? Can't soak it cause of the cord/motor.

Fill the Ninja Food Chopper bowl with whatever you want to chop. Put the plastic cap on the bowl. Open the little flap in the middle of the cap fold it back down flat, insert the motor part into the hole in the cap & press downward, hold onto the bowl with one hand and with the other hand press down on the silver big button on top & it will chop without getting food in the motor part.

can it make pesto, nut butters, hummus etc?

Yes! I dry roast my pine nuts for the pesto first 

I want it to chop veggies, not disintegrate like others, will it do that.?

It will if you pulse it too many times. But a couple pulses and they will be chopped! The blades are so sharp it chops just about anything.

Do you have to manually push this down?
