AGPTEK Updated 4K@30hz HDMI TV Media Player with HDMI/AV/VGA Output

I just received this product. I purchased it to display .mp4 video files on a TV in our customer service lobby, one at a time. I wanted a player that would auto play video and endlessly repeat it, even after a power disruption. Video will be generated from Premiere or by saving PowerPoint presentations as .mp4. This media player is exactly what I wanted. Enable three options in the settings; Auto Play, Cyclic Mode, and Video Resume, and the video automatically plays upon inserting an SD card, and it will repeat endlessly. After removing power, unplugging the power supply, and restoring power, the video automatically plays again. Changing video requires only pressing one button on the media player itself and changing SD card. The new video automatically plays. The remote is not even needed for this. The video quality is very good in 4k and HD on monitor or TV via HDMI. Quality is very good via VGA too. Assuming the product is reliable, this is exactly what I needed.

I purchased two of these to use for Halloween animated displays using a projector; previously I used a laptop computer to play my videos and content - but these media players make setting up my Halloween displays so much easier! I don't have to drag my computers outside, sparing them possible damage from moisture and the elements. Also, seeing the computers connected next to the projectors kind of killed the spooky vibe; these media players are small enough to easily be housed inside the enclosure with the projector, making for a better overall effect. In addition, the media players were relatively inexpensive, making them a viable addition to my Halloween display equipment. The media player works well using both HDMI and VGA projectors - I have tested it with both. The only thing is when using the VGA output, you have to plug external speakers into the media player - you get audio, but it's not the greatest quality; if your audio is recorded using split channels, you might not hear all of the channels in the song (I noticed this when playing Bohemian Rhapsody). A minor nuisance, but not a deal-breaker. This issue could possibly be fixed with a 3.5mm mono to stereo adapter plug. This is not a problem with the HDMI output (which includes the audio signal). Bottom line: I would purchase this again - and most likely will as my Halloween display grows and has more effects added.

EDIT: after posting the review below, the unit bugged out and is no longer working. I'm returning it. I bought this unit to connect to a projector. I wanted a small unit to replace my laptop for watching movies and tv shows. This seemed to be a good choice, but it has a few issues: 1. The user interface is kinda junk. It's fairly easy to use, but poorly optimized and there's a lot of redundancy. Given the price, this is mostly expected, but annoying none the less. 2. There is a VGA port, but no 3.5mm audio port. the AV port does have audio out, but you can't simply plug in headphones or speakers. In my case, hooking up to a Bluetooth transmitter (for wireless headphones), I had to ghetto rig some adapters to get audio working. 3. Subtitle support is pretty horrific. When you do manage to get them working, the text is very pixelated and ugly looking, which really kills the whole watching experience. 4. The controls are pretty bad - I've tried multiple times to rewind video, but the system doesn't seem to like it. It lags pretty bad and it's kicked me back to the main menu a few times. Besides functionality, this remote has WAY more buttons than it should. Honestly i think the remote has more buttons than the entire unit has settings/functions. I'm somewhat torn on this purchase - it works for the most part, but these small problems are becoming more of a nuisance than its worth. I'm going to give it a few more days, but chances are likely that I'll return it and look into something else.

Hey ho, motorcycle man here with another quality review of this product I just bought. Wow, we've arrived at 2020, we are definitely in a new decade of electronics and I foresee little items such as this taking the place of big bulky DVD players, even Blu-ray players. Let me explain, recently I started to digitize all of my media, now when you own close to 375 Blu-rays and DVDs the project can take a long time to put everything into a digital format. But I have gotten almost 175 Blu-rays completed. What I noticed was, and this was my fault, that when I went to plug in the jump drive into my smart TV USB port, I found my TV was not so smart. It could not read the contents of the jump drive or thumb drive depending on what you call it. So that is where this little device comes in handy it's basically nothing more than a media driver that will take your jump drives, SD cards and regular smart cards and play back whatever media you put on. This eliminates having a bulky DVD player in your bedroom or TV room wherever, and is a much better way to travel and take your entertainment with you. the unit comes with an HDMI output that feeds the signal to whatever TV, monitor or visual device you may own providing it has an HDMI input. The supplied remote works very well, has an amazing amount of buttons to choose from, only exception is it does not come with batteries which you will have to supply, their AAA's and it takes two. The other reason I gave this product three stars for picture quality was that the device can only output at 720 P, which is not a really bad situation for most televisions, for my old eyes its hard to see the difference between 1080 P and 720 P on a regular TV screen So far I haven't found anything to deviate from my four-star review, and I very seldom give more than a four-star review. The Device works well, Does not get too hot, the picture image quality is really good on my un-smart TV, it's small footprint makes it easy to transport, and for the cost it is well worth it. So, if you are also thinking about converting all your Blu-ray, DVD, MP3s, MP4's, MKV, or what ever you have in the form of digital media this player will display it on your current television set. So, take it from me the motorcycle man, this is a very wise purchase and does the job very well.

Works well! Just know that it will NOT read a 2TB hard drive without first partitioning the drive. That's a minor inconvenience, but the remote works well, the format is easy to use, & it reads quite a few different file types. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM SELLER ("Nice Wealth"). I had some questions, & they replied quickly every time, & really went out of their way to help me. I appreciate it.

I have a AGPTEK Mini HD Media Player which was pretty good but, as another reviewer pointed out, it didn't play WMV files. This newer one does play WMV and is much more stable (the old one used to freeze every now and again). Picture quality is great, and the interface is fine for me. The only criticism is that they have gone with a simpler remote and done away with the fast forward and reverse buttons which used to work so well to find exactly where you wanted to be in a video. You can still fast forward or back, but you have to first hit the down arrow and then it will let you use the right arrow to go forward. However, you only have about 5 seconds to use this feature then it will go away and, if you hit the right arrow too late, you jump to the next video instead. It's much trickier to use this feature that the forward and reverse buttons on the old remote (which doesn't work with the new player) and I dropped a star because of this. Otherwise, a very good media player. After three months of use, must add a deteriorating aspect. Video keeps going to black screen for a few seconds during play. I checked every cable etc. can't find the cause so must now drop it to three stars. Will try and contact the company.

This unit was so simple to set up and use. I used to have a minipc to do a slideshow but it died from overheating. This was just plug and play. Highly recommend.

glitchy, low RAM, unable to load or display larger photos or videos. Doesn't work with many modern image or video formats. It is good enough - but it sucks. If you can use your laptop, it's better to use a laptop. only reason I bought this was to avoid having my laptop stolen or damaged. Would rather lose a $40 media player than a laptop with personal data. but this thing is so awful that you have to test it out thoroughly and experiment with all your files to make sure they work. if you have an unsupported or too large photo, the slideshow will crash when it gets to that file. Then you have to restart the device and select the correct video output settings each time. It also defaults to a strange setting with a very orange tinted output, making it hard to see at night when changing menu settings. overall, if I knew this beforehand, I would've spent more money for a nicer product or just gotten a second laptop that I don't worry about being damaged or stolen. If I have to spend $80 for a media player, why not get a cheap laptop for $120? So that's what I'll probably end up doing. Much simpler and more useful, dollar for dollar.

Mon précédent lecteur (un Western Digital) m'ayant lâché, enfin plutôt la télécommande, j'ai dû m'en débarasser car il était devenu inutile. Fort de l'expérience, j'ai décidé d'en acheter un avec des boutons de commandes afin de pouvoir continuer à m'en servir en cas de défaillance de la télécommande. Ayant un peu fait le tour, j'ai fini par me décider pour l'AGPTEK. A l'arrivée, je suis très satisfait. Deux bémols : pas de possibilité de voir le temps (total, visionné...) donc moins bien par rapport à WD, mais mémoire et reprise de la lecture donc, finalement, mieux que WD ; enfin, mais ce n'est pas très grave, le son est moins fort avec ce lecteur et il faut le monter davantage. Mais tout le reste est positif : le menu est intuitif et en couleurs ; quand on éteint le lecteur, on éteint aussi le disque dur (ce n'est à l'évidence pas toujours le cas) ; et il lit tous les formats que je lui ai présenté. Evidemment, je ne me sers pas de formats particuliers, en règle générale c'est du avi, mkv ou mp4, mais je suppose que la plupart des utilisateurs sont dans le même cas. Aussi, je mets 5 étoiles, surtout que le prix est particulièrement intéressant.

Dopo vari acquisti (tutti restituiti) di modelli anche sensibilmente più costosi, finalmente questo media player mantiene le promesse. Semplicissimo, senza troppi fronzoli, sia nell'hardware che nel software, fa egregiamente il suo lavoro. L'ho scelto per la necessità di leggere HDD esterni formattati sia NTFS che EXFAT. I dischi vengono letti correttamente. Una piccola pecca è il telecomando, ovviamente economico, i cui tasti non rispondono sempre perfettamente, e la documentazione un po' scarsa. Fortunatamente il funzionamento è molto intuitivo e non è così necessario consultare le istruzioni. Interessante la possibilità, nel menù della risoluzione dello schermo, di settare il frame-rate tra 30, 25 e 24 fps, che permette di avere riproduzioni sempre fluide. Ho sempre usato un media-player con un videoproiettore di fascia medio-alta (prima Infocus, ora Optoma). Ho un vecchissimo media player WD Live TV, che reputo ancora insuperabile. Tra i tanti che ho provato, questo è l'unico che ci si avvicina...

Franchement, j'avais un doute par rapport aux avis. Mais une fois essayé, ce lecteur est terrible. Il lit les DivX, mkv 1080p, mkv 4k,... Et aucune saccadé mais une très belle image. Je vous recommande vivement.
