Avian Science African Grey Bird Food 4lb

I have ordered this for years and years. My bird loves it though like with most food a lot of it upends up unused or maybe she is clearing out the nutty centers and leaving the tiny husks in the bowl. It can be hard to tell sometimes. I love the variety of it. Over time sometimes I wish there was more of this or that specific ingredient. Don’t need the cinnamon sticks because she just doesn’t dig em. Thought she might try over the years but they are ignored or dumped in the dish to make the water red. I like that it does not have that weird sprayed on vitamin or sugary smell. Wish it cost less but willing for pay for the quality and it has been consistent. Unless an alternative drops in my lap, this is always going to be her diet with shared table food supplementation

As long-time owners of an African Grey Parrot and also a Macaw, we have used a variety of foods for our birds. We have always tried to find good value, but not at the expense of poor quality, or food that our birds don't seem to relish. Over years, we've tried many different food blends, but after finding and first using the Volkman Avian Science Foods some three years ago, we have used no other blended food. Our African Grey gets a combination of this African Grey food and sunflower seeds, and our Macaw gets a combination of the the Volkman Macaw food and pistachios. Both birds enjoy the food and maintain great appearance and health. This is not inexpensive food--and at times it can be limited supply. We have used three different suppliers over time (including Amazon), because it is not always consistently in stock at all places. I would welcome a little lower price--more in line with other more common foods--but they simply don't match the quality or are as well-liked by our birds, so I pony up the money to buy the Volkman. I have found this food to be consistently fresh and the same high-quality blend, sack after sack. All-in-all, based on our experience I can highly recommend this food for your parrots; I think it's worth the extra challenge and cost to locate and buy.

It’s alright but for an African Grey it should have some bigger pieces in it. I do however mix with other foods. It’s hard to find a food that meets all your expectations

My African grey likes this mix..he enjoys picking through and finding new things to try..I use it as a mix with his pellets and fresh foods he gets..He seems to enjoy the variety of things that are in this mix.

Overall, my African Grey loves this. But the ingredients state "shelled sunflower seeds." This is not accurate. There are unshelled sunflower seeds. Not shelled. I'll have to do a better search next purchase.
