If this keeps up, I might actually become a morning person…
My husband and I were experiencing poor quality of sleep, issues feeling groggy and tired in the morning, energy “slumps” in the day, and problems falling asleep at night. We did some research on light therapy and thought why not give Luminette a try. I am so glad we did!! We’ve been using the glasses every morning for 10 days now and have had awesome results. My sleep and energy levels improved within the first two days and my husband’s did within the first week. I have a sleep/fitness tracker as well, and I’ve been able to take a look at my before and after reports showing the improvement in the quality of sleep I’m getting. If this keeps up, I might actually become a morning person… For the most part, we’ve been able to integrate using the glasses in to our morning routine without issue. I can make coffee, read, or use the computer. However, despite what the Luminette website says, I feel it would be incredibly difficult to put your makeup on while wearing these glasses. Not only do they slide around a bit (I guess it would depend on how they fit you personally), but they take up a decent chunk of your face so…lipstick. You could probably put on lipstick. Wearing the glasses is a bit weird; you’d think that the bright light would hurt your eyes, but it doesn’t. That being said, as other reviewers have posted, you will need to wear these glasses in a well-lit room. If you wander into a dark room while wearing these glasses, you won’t be able to see much at all. Also, the charge lasts for about 3 - 5 hours of use depending on the intensity setting you’re using. Since there are two people using the glasses, we have to charge it every few days. Overall, we’re both really happy with the glasses and with the positive impact they’ve made on our health. PROS > Better quality of sleep > Easier to fall asleep in the evening and easier to wake up early in the mornings > Way more sustained energy throughout the day > Feeling mentally “sharper”, calmer, and more focused - probably from the better sleep actually… > You get to look like you’re starring in an 80’s Sci-Fi B Movie every morning CONS > The glasses can be a bit awkward to wear. Not uncomfortable by any means, but I find they can slide around sometimes > The cord and plug can be a bit finicky. The charger is a mini USB and it plugs into the glasses at a weird angle. Unless you get the exact right spot, they won’t plug in. Not a huge con, but it took some practice to get used to > The power button is tiny and I end up having to use my fingernail to turn it on

it doesn't remain on the glasses on a track or anything and it comes out very easily. I have lost that piece
These came on time, well packaged. Worked one time. Could not get them to charge. The port is weirdly placed. They feel cheap. There's an adjustable bridge on the glasses so you can move the nose positioner to 3 different places. The positioner comes all the way out, though, it doesn't remain on the glasses on a track or anything and it comes out very easily. I have lost that piece, so even if they did work and I could get them to charge, they'd fall off my face because I lost the positioner. Overall, I feel cheated. These were not cheap, but act like they were.

very effective and easy to use, outstanding customer service with some minor things for the company to improve on
I have just started to use these and I think they are helping my mood. They are light weight and I wear them in comfort for 15 minutes each morning while I read the news and eat breakfast. My only complaints- they seen flimsy for the price and the nose piece, which is firm silicon has an edge that leaves a mark on my nose for 30 minutes after I take them off. A broader edge wear it sits on the nose would be better. They stay on fine when I'm sitting still, but I don't think they would stay on my face if I ever got my butt out of bed early enough to use the elliptical. 11/8/16- the critical, little silicon nose piece fell off and I could not use the visor for 5 days and I definitely felt the difference when I was not able to use it . In other words, it was helping a lot! Also, I called the company about the lost piece and they immediately got back to me and they are sending me the needed nose piece and only took 2days. This is a silicon piece that adjusts so the visor sits at the right level for you. Be sure to push the piece all the way in and keep the visor somewhere that you will find the piece if it does come out. I was not quite organized enough to do that before, but will be more careful from now on.

Effective, Convenient Product with some Quality Control issues
I can report about some (mostly fixable) problems I had with the Luminette product, and also my comparison with the competing product "Re-Timer." In summary, I would say that Luminette is definitely the most effective of the two products, although it may take a few rounds with the general manager (very helpful) to get yourself going. I found it worth my time to do that. I've now been using the Luminette happily for 3 months and find it extremely helpful. Following below are the details that I noted during my reviews of the two products. I ordered both the Luminette and Re-Timer at the same time, because I wasn't sure which one was going to work best for me. My initial research caused me to expect that I would like the Re-Timer best. First, I would like to report the discoveries that I found with both of the units: -you can't really see what you are doing while walking around in the house unless the lights are turned up, so if you are used to waking earlier than your family, and keeping the lights down low so that you won't disturb them, you'll have to re-think your strategies. Working on the computer is fine with both units, as long as the computer's brightness is turned up. -the charge lasts for about a week for both units (of course it depends how much you use it). -the prices were comparable when I bought mine, but Luminette has now dropped their price by $50 -both units seem to have good research findings. The Luminette seems to have been around for longer, and the Re-Timer has taken off with biohackers like Ben Greenfield and Dave Asprey (which I now find surprising). Upon unboxing the Luminette, here is what I found: 8 led lights that shine downward (not aimed at your eyes). They graze across a holographic rainbow reflective surface (or maybe it is aimed toward it), which presumably reflects into your eyes. Some of the light is escaping down the front of my body and all the way to the floor. So even though the lumens are higher than the Re-Timer (1500 at the highest setting), not all of that light is actually going into your eyes. I'm assuming these LED lights are not full spectrum, but rather they are relying on this rainbow thing to provide the full spectrum in it's place. You have to remove the plastic covering over the holographic material when unboxing. This makes the light much brighter. When you plug in the unit for charging, it will flash for several hours and then stop flashing. That's when you know it's fully charged. If it doesn't work this way for you, there's a document you can request from the manufacturer called "Charge problem - PROCEDURE" which gives more details for troubleshooting. When you turn the unit off, you will momentarily see a number of lights flash. This tells you the strength of the battery, so you know when to recharge. The lights flash once or twice after wearing for the full amount of time; a sort of built-in timer; but you can continue to wear the unit afterward if you want. The unit is surprisingly bright when you first put it on; I have to squint til my eyes adjust. Note that the nose piece is adjustable. This is not readily apparent at first. **I noticed a distinct difference in the quality of my sleep after only 2 mornings of use.** Here were my general complaints upon initial purchase (all of which have been resolved or have turned out to be workable): -it's tricky to plug the charging wire into the device. The housing does not guide the plug, and so you have to pay attention to the inner part (rather than the housing) to get the unit plugged in properly. -The first unit I had was a bit tight on my head. The manufacturer recommended that I use a hair dryer to heat and bend the arms slightly. The other units did not have this issue, so it may be that the screws were tightened a bit too much. -The on/off button takes a bit of getting used to. I disliked it at first, but grew to find it workable. Using a fingernail to push on it is most effective. -The first few days I noticed that the unit would slide down my nose just a bit when doing something more active like chopping in the kitchen. Since then I've not noticed this initial annoyance. The nose piece is silicone, and it is comfortable. -If you go straight to customer service, be aware that English is not their first language. I found them slow to respond, and giving incomplete help. However, when I contacted the general manager Eric, he was extremely helpful and responsive. Comparison with Re-Timer: Even though I expected to like the Re-Timer better, and I think the overall manufacturing quality of the Re-Timer is better, I found that the Luminette was preferable for 2 reasons: 1-the Re-Timer points the lights directly into your eyes, and for me this was very harsh and unbearable. The only reason I stuck with it for 2 weeks was because I really wanted to like the unit. 2-the Luminette helped my sleep noticeably after only 2 nights of use, but with the Re-Timer I did not notice any difference at all, even after 2 weeks of use My troubles and resolutions with the Luminette: After having already learned that I did not like the Re-Timer, I was determined to make the Luminette work for me. I had a little mishap with my first unit, in which while I was wearing it, it suddenly turned off for no apparent reason. I plugged it in and got no flashing lights at all. It appeared to be totally dead. So I ordered another one (after discussion with Eric, I think what must have happened was that the battery died, and then I was plugging it in improperly, because after a few days I tried it again and it charged just fine). Anyway, with my second unit, it charged for 2 full days and never stopped flashing, so there was something wrong with the battery. Lucimed acknowledges that this was a defective product. So I ordered a third one. The third unit I could NOT plug it in to charge it. However, I was so determined to use this effective product that I used a little tool to bend the inner parts so that the plug aligned better with the housing, so that I could actually plug it in. It worked. Eric said that this is exactly what they would have done in the same situation. In the end, I was refunded for the 2 defective units. Apparently I was very unlucky to have experienced a defect rate of 67%. OVERALL I AM EXTREMELY HAPPY NOW THAT I HAVE A WORKING UNIT THAT HELPS MY SLEEP SO MUCH! That's the most important result. I hope this review helps someone else who really wants to use an effective wearable light unit. I also hope that Lucimed will improve their quality control, because I'm generally not this unlucky.

Unfortunately, dead on arrival
UPDATED: What a difference a day makes. My replacement glasses arrived the same day. This time the charging cable fit into the port. I charged it for 5 hours before I used it and it was ready for me in the morning. My toddler son decided that they were very cool and he wanted to wear them, too. I told him they were to expensive for him to play with but thankfully if he finds them within reach, he likely wouldn't throw it on the ground as he did my last "SAD" light therapy lamp. I wore the glasses for about 30-45 minutes on the highest intensity until the light started blinking to tell me I was okay to take it off. I think more than the charging cable was defective on the last pair because these didn't feel as tight. I like that they don't get in the way of my own glasses. On top of that, I was able to sit at the computer and eat breakfast as I normally would without having to worry about being within a certain range of my lamp or blinding the toddler who inevitably wants to sit in my lap. While wearing the glasses, I made myself breakfast, brushed my teeth and dressed for the day. Usually, I wait until I've done all this before sitting in front of my lamp and being forced to sit there for 20-60 minutes. The light was pleasant. I wasn't blinded by it (another issue with many of the SAD lamps I've had even from a peripheral view). I noticed a a difference right away. I recently bought several SAD lamps and I got nauseous with one, a headache with another and so on. (This usually goes away once your body gets used to using it.) I didn't notice any ill effects while using the glasses or after. I originally bought these for my husband because he's terrible about using his lamp and he needed something for work. His coworkers already make fun of his light therapy lamp and he said this would be too geeky to wear to work. He has seasonal affective disorder. I use light therapy lamps for my delayed sleep phase disorder. Personally, I think they resemble something out of Back to the Future but they look pretty cool and I love how lightweight they are. The Amazon listing doesn't say but they come with a 3-year warranty if you register the product on their website. I'm glad that it's an extra year or two than a regular sturdier light therapy lamp. It also comes with a pair of matching blue eye glasses retainer cord and a wall plug. I charged the glasses on the USB hub attached to my iMac computer. If you're still not sure, you can actually try them out for a month for $39! https://www.myluminette.com/en-us/try Earlier review 1-star review: I had really been looking forward to using them. I thought they would have a little charge right out of the box but when I pressed the power button, nothing happened. I then went to charge it and the charging cable did not fit into the port on the glasses! Aesthetically, the glasses are very nice, lightweight and stylish in an Apple Store kind of way but I found them a tight fit and it really hurt my head. The part that goes over the bridge of your nose was a little less unpleasant. I like to think that with time, this would get easier. I also liked that the glasses came with the option to use a plug charger or charge it via USB. The case that it comes in is REALLY nice and stylish if a bit bulky so that the glasses fit. Still, the case makes the product even more travel friendly. The price is about the same as a regular SAD lamp: Day-Light Classic 10,000 LUX Bright Light Therapy Lamp so if it actually works, it is competitive at least while being easy to use as you don't need to depend on having a table nearby or worry about positioning it correctly. I am debating whether or not to return it for a replacement or just return it as defective. I bought this for my husband to use for seasonal affective disorder and for myself to use for delayed sleep phase disorder.

These work great for Advanced Sleep Phase Disorder
I've been using these for over three months now, but I wanted to wait that long to write a review to make sure that they work. They definitely do! I was diagnosed in August by a Sleep Medicine doctor with Advanced Sleep Phase Disorder, meaning that I fall asleep too early (usually while on the couch at about 7:00 or 8:00 at night), but then I wake up at 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning and can't fall back asleep. The doctor I saw recommended sitting in front of a 10,000 lux light box each evening for two hours, but that seemed like it would be hard to do since I didn't want to be locked in place next to a huge box. I researched various options, and came across these. Before purchasing them here on Amazon, I emailed the company about whether or not these would work for me, and this was their response: "The Luminette is a pair of light therapy glasses with three light intensity : - 500 lux : during 45 min - 1000 lux : during 30 min - 1500 lux : during 20 min Depending on the intensity chosen, you will not have to expose you for 2 hours but only 20 to 45 min for the same effects as a 10,000 lux light therapy lamp. If you use the Luminette with the recommended timeframe then it will offer you the same effects as the 10,000 lux lamp." As mentioned, for the last three months, I wear these every evening at 7:00 for twenty minutes on the 1500 lux setting, and doing so really helps. (I have a daily reminder set on my Apple Watch to help me remember to wear them.) It did take about two or three weeks for them to work (which is how long light therapy can take to work anyways), but now they really do help. They are pretty comfortable to wear, but do slip down my nose a bit if I'm wearing them without my glasses on underneath. I can read or watch TV with them on, but find that if you're in a dark room, it can be really hard to see anything around you. In a well-lit room, it's not a problem to see clearly. These also come in a nice case that holds the charger, a strap (which I don't actually use), and a cleaning cloth. I charge mine once a week (every Saturday night), and the charge lasts me all week. I love how portable these are, and am so glad that I decided to go with this instead of a large lightbox. They've really helped me with my sleep!

Don't waste your money!!!!!
This product does NOT work! I am a long time SADS sufferer and have excellent results with the Philips Blue Light in previous years. I felt more energy, increased mood and much better sleep with the Philips. But after years of service it broke. I bought this for the obviously easier use and not being tied down to a desk. I used it every morning for 1 hour, more than they recommend, for weeks. Nothing but dry eyes and trouble seeing due to the brightness. So I gave up, ordered a new Philips Blue light which took 3 days to arrive. As soon as I used the Philips for a few days I was happy, energized and sleeping better. These are going in the trash. What a waste of hard earned money! I should have known it was too good to be true.

Jet Lag Calculator App does not work and Luminettes may not be helpful if traveling east
I am travelling from Los Angels to Amsterdam on vacation. I bought the Luminettes for jet lag. Their jet lag calculator app does not work and has very bad reviews. The manual says that I should seek bright light in the afternoons. It doesn't specify how many hours of light. Since I will be outside on vacation, I don't think that's a problem because I'll be getting many hours of sunlight (unless it rains). The manual doesn't say anything about using the Luminettes if you have bright natural sunlight. Does that mean that the Luminettes help jet lag only when going to a dark, rainy climate or working indoors? I thought I was going to be using them at a specific time every day but it seems that is not the case. The manual says that each day I should "move my session forward two hours taking care not to go past my normal bedtime". Do I try to get light two hours later every day? If I start getting sunlight at 1-4pm, do I shift to 3-6pm the next day? Do I keep shifting until I reach my bedtime? If there is a cloudy day, do I wear the Luminettes only once during the afternoon light period? I tried jet lag calculators from other companies such as Rooster and Lumie. Their calculators basically said the same thing with no specific times to wear the light glasses or use light appliances. I wonder if Luminettes are more suited to people travelling west or for people with SAD. Can anyone tell me when to use the Luminettes in my situation or if I should return them? I'll revise this review if Luminette responds to my inquiries. However, because they have removed the jet lag calculator from their website and their app does not work, I won't be giving them a 5 star review. UPDATE: Luminette said that they know the app is not working. They are trying to fix it. They also confirmed that the manual has a translation mistake and you should not move your Luminette sessions forward each day, but backwards. Traveling east to Amersterdam, I should use my Luminettes (if the weather is cloudy) at noon the first day, 10am the second day and 8am the third day. They confirmed that if I am in bright sunlight during the afternoon, I don't need to use the Luminettes because they are a substitute for bright light. On my last trip to Europe, I couldn't sleep at night and I was in bright sunlight all day so I'm not sure the Luminettes will help when bright sunlight could not. Luminette suggested that I wear blue blocking glasses during the mornings. I don't understand their written explanation. If it's 8am in Amsterdam, it's 9 hours earlier my time which would make it 11pm -- sleep time. I thought using light during my normal sleep period would be best but they say to stay in the dark or use sun protection glasses until noon which would be 3am my time. Luminette was very nice about answering my questions quickly. I'm just not sure the Luminettes will work for me. I'm adjusting my rating to 2 stars and I'll update again when I've returned from my vacation.

Buena calidad
