This is a heavy duty loptop, you will need a proper backpack to carry it.
Excellent quality! Fast. Prefect for "on the road" editing.

Laptops are great ASUS warranties SUCK
The laptops are great and perform well, but if it ever requires warranty work, you're screwed. ASUS agents can't, or won't, tell you where to buy replacement hardware for your laptop; in fact, even if you are someone with over 20 years of experience repairing computers, ASUS will not send you a simple replacement for your SSD. No, you must send your laptop to them for repair. How long are you to be without your laptop? They don't know. One agent told me to take my laptop to Best Buy as they are an authorized service center for ASUS, I said, "Great, they do warranty work?" the agent said, "No, you will have to pay for the repairs yourself." Well of what worth is their warranty? I'm going to have to pay for a new SSD out of my pocket even though its still under warranty. That bites.I had another ROG STRIX that had a motherboard go bad and it was just out of warranty by a week. I contacted ASUS because I couldn't find that motherboard anywhere. ASUS said they don't carry part like that because the ROG STRIX is built to different specs...what? You don't carry replacement parts for computers your make and you can't tell me where I can find one? I ended up sending it to New York and a shop there was able to fix the motherboard. So, laptops = excellent I own three; ASUS and their warranty/service department = SUCK I won't buy another ASUS brand computer ever again.

Efficient and powerful
Originally I was hesitant on purchasing this, and many other laptops due to the heating complaints. But the fact of the matter is, when you packing this much power into a tight rig, it will get hot. But when I received this and started to use it I was very surprised by the lack of heat. Even when gaming, mind you I've only played some not so demanding games (Super Hot MCD, Heavily Moded Oblvion) it has hardly any noticeable heat other than in one very specific area, near the power button. The highest temp I recorded with MSI afterburner on the GPU is 62.There is also hardly any bloatware, and most of the stuff that comes preinstalled I found to be very useful. MyAsus has a way to prevent the battery from charging to 100% to save its life. Nvidia has a driver update center app. There is also a program useful for changing the appearance of the lights on the keyboard. One downside some may not like is the Gamer Look™. large ROG logo right on the front, big bright RGB, and the ROG styled keyboard panel. It doesn't bother me, but if your aesthetic is business professional, or a more relaxed design it may not be for you, although you can turn the lights off and it makes a big difference if you needed it for work or similar settings. This will get 80% of what you need done. I only see a need to purchase something more expensive if you want those extra itty bitty frames for high end demanding titles. Apparently the screen also doesn't have the best colors, so if you are a graphic designer it may not work for you, or you can use an extra screen while at home/work.Moving from Windows 7 to Windows 10 after years and years of not having a PC I actually really like the additional features. If you are on an old OS, don't be scared. Its very elegant and I really like that I have ways to organize my workflow spaces. In the Start button area I'm able to put programs into boxes and name the groups, so I can have a productivity and a system preference groups. Then on the desktop I have my games using Rainmeter, and on the taskbar I have frequently used miscellaneous.
