will this work for a cutting grid in a stand alone ice machine

I never thought of that as a use but it would work fine. I use it to cut EPS foam where the temperature on the wire range around 600 degrees. As you know the temp is determined by a combination of amperage, gauge and length of the wire between the power leads. So long as you have sufficient power this should work great.
