Like an extension of my brain
There’s a saying that goes sometimes you just have to think outside of the box. Unless you are an Apple user, for too long we have gotten into the habit of automatically buying a certain brand of mouse, and usually keyboard too, and if not we buy the brand that’s the same as our windows operating system. There was a time when that was a wise move because the only other alternative is that cheap no name stuff that’s stamped out by the billions, what we call throwaway peripherals. It’s only those who have been around computers for many years that remember the name Kensington, which despite the economy and everything else keeps on slugging along making surprisingly good mice and keyboards for about half the price of the super premium brands. Granted it’s not a cheap as the no name stuff but it’s a whole lot better. So when I got fed up with only getting about a year time after time with Logitech and my most recent mouse from Microsoft seemed possessed by evil spirits I bought this one. Note that’s it’s wired. I won’t go into all the reasons other than there is no logical sense needing a wireless mouse on a desktop computer. I chose this model sight unseen because it looked large and comfortable but pictures don’t do a really good job at that, the only way to know is to buy it and try it. I was lucky that the warehouse had one return in stock that stated it was in the original package and it was two-thirds of the new price – less than ten bucks. I really didn’t have anything to lose.It arrived actually looking brand new, not even any fingerprints on it. I love when that happens. I plugged it in and it worked instantly, replacing the other device’s drivers with its own. Here are the pros and cons, I hope they help you.PROMore comfortable than either of the other two super premium mice. It’s slightly larger than most and very sculpted. Here are the subtle things that make all the difference. First, the two buttons on the thumb side are not right under your thumb like most brands like to do, instead my thumb is in a curvy cavity where it can press downward toward the desktop and upward at the same time. Hard to explain but it gives me an incredible sense of precision – and that’s important to me because I am a photographer and graphic artist. The second thing is that the left and right buttons go farther back under my fingers, so I’m activating them with more of the finger’s surface rather than the fingertips. That translates to far fewer false mouse clicks. And third, the scrolling wheel isn’t right under my finger but instead I operate it with the very tip of the index finger. Again that means more precision and fewer errors.CONSIt’s not lighter but it does feel lighter as I move it around. That’s not a fault as much as it is something I have to get used to.YES OR NOYou can tell this company knows their stuff. Little things like instead of only four pads on the bottom there are five so no matter which way you push it there’s no tipping. And the DPI button right on top but here’s something I like – when I plugged it in all of those various adjustments were perfect for the way I use my mouse. With my previous one I was feeling like I was fighting it and it just wasn’t doing what I wanted but with this one it’s more like an extension of my brain. If you do any creative work or gaming you know how important that is. I say yes you should try it but I repeat what I said before, no one can tell you what’s right for you, they can only offer you an opinion, the only way you will know for sure is to try it for yourself.

Best mouse I've used in 20 years.
----Update: It lasted 8 years before the cord got a short in it and wasnt fixable.----The best mouse I've ever used. The size is amazing. I have purchased 5 supposedly normal size ones that were way too small. I have extremely small hands for a man, and yet can't seem to find a mouse that is big enough for comfort. I spend 8 hours a day on a computer and sometimes another 4 hours gaming on one at night. I need comfort. This one has been a godsend. I no longer get pain and numbness in my arm and fingers. I have no idea why people are saying this thing is huge or that it's the size of a keyboard. It is not huge. Measuring it myself, the length is 4 3/4 inches, the width is 3 1/8 inches at the widest point. To me, this is a normal size. The size mice used to be before everyone started making them smaller and smaller. As for the 2 thumb buttons, I have to agree with another reviewer that although they seem like they are in a spot you would bump them a lot, I have not found it to be a problem. My thumb rests perfectly below them and they are easy to access when I want to use them. I also have never bumped the pointer speed button on the top by accident. I set it to where I like it and it's stayed that way. It does appear to be close to the scroll wheel, but I've never found my finger to bump it. There is a comfort grip on the left side of the mouse where your thumb is. It is very comfortable, without feeling sticky, gummy, wet or spongy. It is clearly made of some sort of rubber but feels to MY touch like leather. Or the rubbery grip part on expensive motorcycle gloves. Genuinely been a pleasure to use and has really changed my life in it's comfort. I plan to buy 3 more. Frightened that when this one wears out, maybe I won't be able to find it again or it will be discontinued. Oh, and it's sturdy. I drop my mouse at least 5 times a day on hardwood floors. I constantly trip over the cord and have it go flying and hit my computer or the lamp or wall and it's never gotten a scratch or stopped working. 6 months now and going strong. Well worth the price. *UPDATE* - 2 years and 4 months, still looks great and works like a dream. Just bought another for a new laptop.
