Immediate improvement in the way I feel about myself from 5HTP. I also feel more aware and able to explain myself around other people. These dry capsules work immediately and last all day. Someone said they don't like the feeling of skipping a pill. For me I was thinking that maybe I should be on 50mg instead 2x/day. I stopped taking this supplement after a few days of feeling remarkably better. Also 5HTP works like a switch in your brain telling you when to stop eating and making you stop eating. I do not understand my mother who is a millionaire telling me she doesnt want to take supplements due to the cost. I was explaining that it works out to 5 cents a day and one bottle can last 4 months. I don't pay a cable bill or pay for a dog walker, to justify these expenses. I love supplements since I do not think we get all of our nutritional requirements from food alone especially when some people eat wonderbread. There is some seriously illogical thinking in this country when it comes to supplements and the need to overmedicate people. Aside: I have been told I needed to be on psychotropic medication to regulate my mood because my mother yelled at me saying I had a chemical imbalance because I was born that way. I have tried a number of psychotropic medications and felt hopeless. 5-HTP is helping me feel more motivated, helping me talk to people in real time and I'm making a point to talk to new people. I'm getting up early in the morning instead of staying in bed. I feel like I want to keep busy. I am so grateful for this medication more people should know about it. I also am trying Phosphatidylserine [for lowering cortisol causing belly fat] Phosphatidylcholine Hupezine Vinopectine. I wanted to slow down the useage of this strength 200mg 2x/day since I was concerned if my serotonin levels were being overstimulated and if that would be harmful. I wonder what the ideal ratio for serotonin/dopamine is, if it depends on the person. Its interesting that 5-HTP makes me feel more at ease with myself around other people, Americans actually, I get along with International people. Its helping with writing --although I know this could use some editing but I need to write other reviews. I will post updates for this review as well as from studies on friends whom I bought this for, people just dont want to buy supplements for themselves but willing to try.

I usually am pretty skeptical when it comes to these types of supplements but a girlfriend of mine highly recommend that I give this product a try. I suffer from depression, anxiety and PTSD. I do not like to use medications though because of the side effects I get from them such as feeling numb to any and all emotions and just being very lethargic and zombie like. I prefer to take a more natural approach to treating my health issues. I really had nothing to lose with trying these pills out. I had low expectations to be honest. The pills arrived within a day and I eagerly took two as instructed and waited for something to happen. When I tell you these pills kicked in within a day you probably wouldn’t believe me. I literallt woke up feeling refreshed! Actually, that night I took them I had some sound sleep, I actually had a good deep sleep because for the first time in a long time I had a dream. When you dream that means your body and mind is in its most relaxed state and you’re sleep cycle is in REM. I woke up in a great mood which is rare because I’m totally not a morning person at all. I had more pep in my step, the energy was the most noticed change I had. I walked into work smiling and talking to people for once lol. I also felt that the things that I would normally obsess about didn’t bother me nearly as much as they did before. This continued for the rest of the time I was taking it. My appetite was more suppressed as well. I wasn’t emotionally eating. I also had enough energy to start running again. I have been going to the gym daily, sleeping better and more engaged with my family and friends. I feel that this product has given me back my life and am so thankful that my friend introduced me to these wonderful little pills. I've only used this product over the past three consecutive days. I bought it primarily for its purported mood-boosting qualities. The manufacturer suggests that you take one pill/day for the first two weeks, which I've followed. The next morning, upon awakening, I clearly felt better. Am I saying that the results worked overnight? That's exactly what I'm saying. Of course, this is my personal experience using the suggested protocol and dosage.* Secondly, I slept like a rock--all three nights. Finally, I read one review that stated he/she had some difficulty getting up out of bed in the morning. Me, too. A bit groggy, but I get up M-F at 4:30am. (More of a discipline thing vs. a "need to" thing.) In short, HIGHLY recommended. At $20/bottle, you have little to lose (except $20 if it doesn't work for you). On the other hand, if you're feeling blue or depressed and/or your sleeping habits are less-than-ideal, I would go for it. * I strongly believe in the old saying, "The dosage makes the poison." If you are under-dosing, up your dosage slightly. If you are over-dosing and feeling ANY negative effects, trim back the dosage. Think of this philosophy in this way: in front of you are two quantities of wine. One quantity of wine is in a tiny thimble. The other quantity is an entire bottle of wine. YOUR limit is somewhere in-between a thimble and a bottle. If you enjoy wine, then it is your personal and social responsibility to find where your limit lies. If you over-drink, you will suffer the consequences. Find your personal limit and DON'T exceed it.
