Is this mat heat resistant? I'm looking for something that will protect my sink from melting when washing or rinsing a hot dish... (yeah, it's some new material my husband wanted instead of a stainless steel sink, and its integrated as one piece with our countertop)

It is heat-resistant to a point I guess- it looks like its made of clear silicone rubber, and when mine turned orange on the back from mildew, I boiled it which distorted it so it was no longer perfectly flat ... but it stood up to boiling water. Your problem will most likely be that the thing has a hundred half-inch square holes (it's a saddle designed to protect the sink hump, but also drain) so hot water will run right through it (look at the picture carefully). Maybe InterDesign makes a mat intended to sit on the bottom of the sink with no holes in it- I've only bought the saddle.Bryon

how widens the center strip?

The center strip starts at 1 1/4" and can be used with sink centers up to a width of 2 1/4"

Does this fit the center divider of a double porcelain farm house sink?

Probably. It fits the dam in our fiberglass sink which is 2 3/4" wide. Just so you know, this item is made from PVC and has an odor that does not dissipate much over time. I replaced ours with one made of silicon.

J'ai acheté ce fonds d'évier pour protéger mon évier. J'aime beaucoup le design. On le voit très peu car il est transparent, il laisse passer les résidus et se nettoie bien. Il amortit bien aussi lorsque l'on pose la vaisselle dans l'évier. Je suis très satisfaite

Although it took 6 months for the product to get to me, i was constantly kept up to date with the progress, and many times given the option to cancel if i could not wait. Great communication. The sink drainers are being used to make snuffle mats for dogs entertainment.
