Bright and rugged
After a couple of days, loving these binoculars. The magnification seems just right for boating: Not too powerful (to minimize shake in the image) but powerful enough to really help spot buoy numbers, etc. I am used to using my good quality compact binoculars for travel, so maybe I'm just used to a dimmer image, but I was shocked at the brightness and clarity of the images in these binoculars. The center focus also is very smooth. A minor quibble: The end lens caps (attached) are very convenient, but it would be nice if the eyepiece caps were a one-piece unit that could be attached to the binoculars by a lanyard as you see on some other binoculars. But other than that very very minor issue, these are great. They are very rugged and feel well balanced -- easy to keep steady. Well worth the money in my opinion.

Great Binnoculars
I bought these for sailing. They have not disappointed! Oyhers that I have saiked with who also have binnoculars on their boats have all commented on how great these are compared to what they've used before. And these have met my expectations! Yes, they are heavy! I expected that and am fine with that. Other pairs are lighter but the optics arent as good. The compass in these are dead on! And the compass is easier to see than in others I've used. Now, these aren't perfect. I am somewhat budget conscious. These aren't as cheap as some others but are good. If budget isn't a consideration, then binnoculars with stabilization would probably be better, but they're nearly 5 times as expensive. There is also a really good german pair of binnoculars that are a bit lighter and more compact, but almost $200 more. So, you can pay for better, but these are really great for the price and unless you pay a LOT more, you don't fet much more for the extra $$

Very good and well made
These binoculars are made very well. Seem strong and appear to be able to withstand normal abuse. The focusing knobs are just right, not too big that they keep getting bumped but big enough to find them when you need to. Very bright and clear image.

Really nice binoculars for the money
I debated about buying much more fancy binoculars with an integrated compass for sailing, but decided on this much cheaper pair. For the money, I could buy 4 or 5 pairs of these versus the more expensive German-made version. Optics on these are very good. The integrated compass works great, although it can get a little 'sticky' when looking up or down from horizontal. I don't know how well the compass card functions in the southern hemisphere just yet. I am slightly skeptical if the floating strap will provide enough buoyancy to actually float the binoculars. However I'm not willing to try it out. Hopefully I will learn some day, and hopefully on that day I will be pleased. But, if I were to lose them, I would buy another pair happily.

AWESOME BINOCULARS
The compass helps with direction. Also the compass light makes night use easy. Would definitely buy again.

Immediately returned
The compass and the reticle were often out of focus for me when the binos were in focus. The night capabilities was pretty decent.... In the end I ended up spending a lot more money and not getting a compass but for operating a boat at night the brighter and the sharper the better.
