OK, so here’s the deal: DRMTLGY claims to be a cruelty-free brand, and that MAY be true…but because “cruelty-free” is a unregulated term, some brands can (and do) get away with falsely awarding themselves that label, with 0 legal ramifications. It’s stupid.

The BEST way to confirm if a brand is cruelty-free is by using a third-party checker. Try typing in your search engine “is [brand name] cruelty-free cruelty-free kitten?”. The website Cruelty-Free Kitten looks deeply into the cruelty-free claims of MANY, MANY beauty brands. So does PETA, so you can check their website, too. And there are others — just give them a search.

DRMTLGY doesn’t appear on those sites. Yet. Keep in-mind that ANY brand that sells products in mainland China IS NOT CRUELTY-FREE (animal testing is legally required there). DRMTLGY, it appears, does NOT sell in mainland China, so…that’s a big plus.

For now, you’re safest sticking to brands that have been confirmed cruelty-free by one of these third-parties. Pür is one such brand, with some excellent, comparable tinted moisturizer. Check Cruelty-Free Kitty and PETA for a lot more great brands, and send companies a very clear message: get your house in-order, regarding animal testing; keep your stores OUT of China (where regard for animal life is abysmal…and regard for human life isn’t that far off…); and stop being lazy — get your products actually LABELED cruelty-free via a reputable third-party!

What are the differences between the tinted moisturizer w 46 spf and the broad spectrum spf sunscreen formula?  is it only the additional tinted color

I find this tinted moisturizer extremely moisturizing, much more so than a typical broad spectrum spf. In fact, I’ve begun adding some to my foundation, which then sit out a bit (since foundations aren’t water-soluble anymore), and it works really well- Also extends the life of your foundation. I highly recommend this product, it’s unlike any other facial SPF that I’ve tried. It is a little more oily, but I like that.

Question 3

May I use moisturizer under this? Such as hyaluronic acid?

I use this over my Olay Hylauronic Acid serum any time I'm going to be outside. As far as I can tell, both products are doing a great job. I live in the Sunshine State and appreciate what a great moisturizing sunscreen this is. This is the only sunscreen I use on my face by the pool or at baseball games. I do wear a hat though. I actually don't even use foundation anymore if I'm just going out in the daytime anywhere.

Is this a physical only sunscreen or is there a chemical sunscreen as well?

There is a physical sunscreen, but it's a different product that I do not see on Amazon, but only direct from the Drmtlgy website. It's called "Physical Universal Tinted Moisturizer SPF 44"
