are they carved from wood

I found this on the Willow Tree website:A: The original of each Willow Tree® figure is sculpted and carved by Susan Lordi using a special sculpting clay. Susan's originals are then sent to a factory in China to be cast in resin that exactly captures each of her knife marks. The resin is cured, and each piece is individually hand-painted (and the paint is lead-free).I LOVE mine and have bought several for gifts.

How does the shelter stand up? Is it curved or does it have a support piece?

It is curved and stands on it's own. It is all one piece of pressed metal.

Are they goued together?

Hello, These figures are not glued together. They are separate figures that are sold together, Thank you
