Irwin Tools 1794448 16-Inch X 24-Inch Aluminum Framing Square

This is a really good framing square that's made out of aluminum. That makes it lighter than steel, but it is also softer metal and bendable. I have one of each, steel and aluminum, depends on the job.

The tool is great! The measurements on it are not black. They appear black on the listing and since I have a hard time reading without glasses I thought it was perfect. I almost returned it when it arrived and noticed the measurements were just engraved in the silver tool, but because the quality is so good, and my wife insisted, I kept it.

Irwin makes good products. I know this as I've used them many times and own quite a few of them, never having any issues or failures. This framing square is light and, surpringly, was perfectly square right out of the box....if you think every square is always perfectly 90 degs when you purchase them, think again. You should ALWAYS check them for square before 1st use and occasionly thereafter. The price is also quite reasonable. The only thing I'd change about this square is to have the numbers and markings be colored to make them easier to see. All in all a good tool and I'd recommend it to anyone.

There's not too much to review on a framing square, it arrived in good condition and straight, it is made of aluminum which I like much better than plastic, and the measurements are easily legible.

Edges are rough. Can hurt and drawing a line is not comfortable. Finish should have been much better.
