Just buy it without fear!! I do rideshare on the side and have a transportation company and this Mirror/Camera has been working flawlessly since I bought it back 2019. I have an SUV with dark tints and often times I drive with a lot of luggage in the back, obstructing my rear view mirror. This camera takes care of that. Pros: - Easy to install! It snaps onto your mirror with rubber strips. Super easy - Comes with all the tools needed to hide the cables in between panels and organize them in your car. - Touchscreen is responsive as it should be and accurate - Front camera has excellent video quality Cons: The only one I can think of after all these months using it for more than 10 hours daily, 5 days a week, would be the rear view camera quality and display on the mirror itself, which at night and at night only is worse than the front camera. HELPFUL TIP!!!!! : - I DO NOT recommend to install this camera on the outside by your license plates if you intend to use this camera as rear view mirror at ALL TIMES. And itโs not even the cameraโs fault (I set it by my license plate for 3 months and it held up just fine, even through automated car washes). Itโs just that it requires constant cleaning and wiping to get a good, clean and crisp view of the back. Just forget about it if itโs raining, canโt see anything. Had to stop all time to clean. Snow??? Just switch it to the regular mirror option and forget you even have a camera on the back, it gets covered in 1 minute of snow driving. SOLUTION: I made a cut out on my rear window tint and installed the camera on the inside (had to make a cut out as itโs 5% visibility, you might not need to, but glass without any tints is better). My camera itโs placed right under the washer fluid sprayer, on the very top, and the wiper keeps the glass clean. Plus I have a better view of the back from the camera being up high and it reduces glare from other headlights.. Plus I donโt have to take any chances from being exposed to the elements and people. Final thoughts: Excellent camera for the price. All my passengers love it as well and 4 of them have already bought it after seeing mine. I bought it for the mirror functionality as I already have a dual channel dashcam system in my car. I canโt write a detailed review about the dash cam functionality as I never used it when things happened (cut offs, accidents in front of me etc). I always use my other dashcam as it also has parking mode. But so far it has not shown any errors or stopped recording out of nowhere. Fires up all the time and does its job.

What I love: - overall, I like it, big display, better rear view. 1. It is amazingly clear at night, even with the car head light off. However, glares of the headlight from the car behind would be an issue. It is the trade off of clear detail at night. So, I don't blame on the product. 2. The wire with rear camera is tiny enough to get through any hole for installation. 3. It can use up to 128GB SD card (I tested on U3 speed grade. Although the card is pre-formatted, it still needs to be reformatted by the camera.) 4. Easy to install, my first time. So far so good, I love it. My concerns - not related to product quality, so I still giving it 5 stars. 1. The display is clear enough in cloudy days. However, it is not strong enough with the rear window strong sunlight (noon) getting to the car mirror in the BIG Sunny days. (This is natural. Even a computer display cannot clearly see under the direct sunlight. So, I don't blame on the product). I live in sunny California. Although this product can work as a mirror, I have to tilt the mirror to an "awkward position" to avoid sunlight from rear window to watch the display. Thus, the physical mirror function is meaningless. Besides, I need to have my eyes to get use of focusing on display instead of focusing the scene seen through the mirror. I may consider non-mirror attached camera next time. New Update: I am not used to use the display to replace the back mirror. I finally use it as "normal mirror" and switch off the display, with recording still on. However, the new issue is the "mirror" somehow "dangling/shaking" when on the local rough road. Need to find a way to tightly fixed on the original car mirror. I also found a position that allow me to watch as a mirror in the day time and as a display at night. The trade off is that there is dual image (mirror and display) at around sunset. To resolve this, I need to switch off the display function (still recording) 2. The front camera can not be circularly tilted a little bit to make the ground horizontal in the display. Instead, I need to tilt the whole mirror. However, the front camera is very nice to be able to tilt it up and down, left and right, so that I can aim to the middle of the road. Results: 1. Video file format: .MOV, videos is very clear and detailed on the computer. 2. 5min file size: 100MB ~ 375MB. For a 32GB card, both front and rear camera recording, worst case is 3.2 hours before looping. Assuming mean file size to be 250MB, it is about 5 hours recording before looping. For a 128GB card, means 13~20 hours of recording. 3. Night time file size is not measured yet. New update: It will take average 1.7GB/hr and 1.9GB/hr for front and rear camera respectively. That is, 3.6GB/hr memory is needed. For a 128GB micro SD card, it can take around 35.5 hours. 4. Parking assistant is just an image with FIXED guidelines, NOT that helpful. However, the rear image and backup image can be set to show different up-down angel. But it would be reset to same angle once power off. Installation tip for rear camera: The only challenge is to install the rear camera on top of the license plate. I figured out that the camera wire can be get through the plate light hole and connected in the trunk. The plate light is actually clicked on the back hook. Remove the light and have the camera wired in and click the light back. I don't need to drill any hole through car body.

I bought three of these AKASO DL9 rear view mirror dash cams. I powered it with the PLOZOE dash cam hardwire kit. I installed this in January 2020 and this review is in September 2020. PROS: 1. The build quality itself upon first glance is good. Felt and looked like an original mirror and felt solid. The quality is excellent. Mounting it on the existing mirrors took some getting used to but it fit on all the cars I installed it on. 2. It has a wide view and you can easily distinguish license plate numbers at any time of the day. The night vision is great and I was surprised at the quality. 3. Its inconspicuous. I told several people that I had a dash cam and they couldn't pin point where it was. If they can't find it when I told them I had one, that means a random stranger more than likely won't see it (unless your wires are dangling of course). 4. The price. You can't beat the price even when it's not on sale (there are coupons regularly). For the peace of mind and avoiding any potential headaches when in an accident, $90 is not a lot of money. 5. Touch screen is excellent. Its not finicky and it is very responsive. 6. Camera is sensitive and will lock video files in case you need them. Just be aware that you need to manually delete these videos to conserve space. If you run out of space, the mirror will notify you that it cannot record. CONS: 1. I chose to mount the rear camera on the rear window rather than the license plate. At first it seemed fine but after awhile I wish I installed it near the license plate. The video quality on the rear camera is not so good. The product description page does tell the consumer the resolution of both the front and the back. I just didn't realize how big of a difference it would be. I can hardly make out the license plate numbers unlike the front camera. This is during the day time. I can see the color and shapes of cars but in the event of a hit and run it will be hard to get the plate numbers. Perhaps if its near the license plate the quality may improve. 2. The next issue with the battery happened a couple months after ownership of the cameras. On one of the cameras, the internal battery seems to be gone. The level on the battery when I turn on the car is always empty. When I turn off the car it also says not enough battery. What this means is that the parking monitor option cannot be utilized. This is an option I need as I park on the street. The dates and times also get resetted. This is more of a minor annoyance but it is an annoyance nonetheless. 3. Unless the car is tinted or there is an overcast, cannot see the camera during the day time. This impacts the use of the reverse guide and also if you want to go to settings or rewatch footage. 4. One gripe I have is the reverse guide camera if you wire it up to trigger on reverse. I like looking at the camera and seeing the front camera displayed while driving. The problem is if you reverse, the camera feed on the mirror switches to the reverse video but when you go back into drive or park, it stays at the reverse video (without guidelines) and doesn't revert back to what it was prior to going in reverse. 5. Parking monitor is very sensitive. Getting into the car will trigger it. I guess you can't really expect it not to but having it turn on everytime you get into the car is a bit annoying. 6. If you do trigger the parking monitor while getting into the car and then turn on the car, the camera will turn off within 20 seconds. The reason is that even though there is power going through it, it is still in parking mode and will shut off as it doesn't sense that it should be in driving mode. What this means is you need to wait for it to turn off and then you need to manually turn it back on. The issues listed with the parking monitor can be resolved if you disable it in settings. Conclusion: Do not let the cons discourage you from buying this camera. Those are my cons and it may not apply to you. Get peace of mind and get a good dash cam. These will help in instances of fender benders and will be of great help for your insurance company and/or lawyer if you retain one. Remember, DO NOT give footage to the opposing insurance company. In fact, NEVER talk to the opposing insurance company. Thats why you have your own insurance company and/or lawyer, that's THEIR job. Talking or giving evidence to the opposition can screw your case over, even if you believe you were in the right.

So I bought this mainly because of the reverse camera because its safer if little kids for example are playing behind your car and you can't see them. I was thinking hopefully I will never have to actually look at the footage it records but sadly I did get in an accident last year. It would have been my word against hers but I looked at the footage and it was clear that it wasn't my fault. It recorded the front and rear views so I could show it to the insurance company and prove I was not at fault. I am so happy bought this. It works exactly as advertised and is very easy to use. The quality of the screen and the recording is amazing. The user interface is very simple and the touchscreen works great. The other two features that I found out about later is that if my car is parked and something hits it, the Akaso will begin recording to hopefully catch who hit your car. The second feature that I like is that it records audio during the whole thing and if you get into an accident and stand in front or rear of the car with the windows down while you exchange information the Akaso will pickup on the conversation. The other great thing about it is when you do get in an accident it automatically locks the file so you cannot erase it unless you want to. You can transfer the file from the mirrors SD card to your laptop or computer very easily and the rear parking assistant lines work perfectly. They really did think of everything because the cigarette lighter plug on cars works with the ignition so it has a backup battery to record while you are not in the car if someone tries to vandalize it or hit and run. Overall, an absolutely amazing product.

This is actually a very nice dash cam. I did return it though and will explain. (And I didn't hook up the rear so I am only speaking about the front) First of all, the quality is excellent, the build is solid, it looks really good. You can play back recordings on the mirror which is great and the picture is bar none. The cord length is fine and i installed mine and hid the wires completly in about 30 minutes. The fact it also comes with an sd card makes it even better. So why did I return it? This may not matter to others, but when you put it ontop of your mirror, it just makes it all look clunky. The reason I bought it was because I wanted something discreet and thought this could be it. But it was just too clunky for my taste. If i could have removed my mirror and just used this one, that would have been great or if it was thinner. I apologize I didn't take a picture of it before writing this review, but imagine about an extra 2inches of depth ontop of your mirror. My mirror is a dimming mirror, so its already pretty "fat". If you have a standard issue mirror, this may not be an issue at all. Now if that wouldnt bother you, then this is well worth the price and this is the way to go.
