Q: Is this safe to use for my ferret?

No, I would not use this for ferrets. Carefresh is VERY dusty and is known to cause upper respiratory infections in ferrets! The safest litter for ferrets is paper pellet litter in a litter box!

Q: does this product contain baking soda?

Absolutely not. Carefree is completely free of perfumes, baking soda, and it is dust free. We have a rabbit and we can empty the dirty litter out into our flower bed or garden. The litter is 100% pulverized paper and it is soft. If you have children in your home it is safe and non toxic to them as well. I have been using paper bedding for years. Cedar and pine shavings cause respiratory problems in small animals after prolonged use and I do not recommend them. I hope that helps you.

Q: How long does this normally last?

I Change my bunnies cage every two weeks, and it last about that long, but I also have a toilet trained bunny so she poos in her litter box. So I'd say if your pet isn't toilet trained I'd say change it about once a week
