I purchased this product due to my inability to provide my skin with appropriate sun protection one day this summer (it has been a few years since I have experienced such levels of sun on a regular basis). I proceeded to spend a night wishing that I could safely freeze myself into an ice cube (which I am positive I would have melted out of in a matter of minutes). Midnight discomfort lead me to this product. The initial use was a day or two after the day of regret, but it eased the discomfort and moisturized my reddened skin, helping to soften the leather layer I had started to form. Of course this review would not be complete without me faulting myself a second time. Two times in one summer I proved my inability to adult well. I applied this lotion the MINUTE I realized that I had experienced another exposure to the sun for too long a period (aka: is it hot in here or is it just my shoulders). To my absolute joy, this product relieved my discomfort. It left a layer that stayed cool for a few hours (at which time I reapplied it), it was a little tacky to the touch (not sticky or oily), and my skin did not experience the crocodile and subsequent peeling experience it had earlier in the season. The scent is soft and not overpowering. I have experienced skin sensitivity in the past to products, but I had no issues with Burt’s Bees products. The best after sun lotion I have ever found. I am pale and burn easily and have used this for years and recommend to everyone. Takes the sting out of sunburns and reduces peeling. A staple at our house. No pain with application, love it

Does the job, yes! Smell, do not love... It takes a little while to actually rub it in all the way but leaves the skin feeling like a good natural moisture. Not oily at all, which I really like. I just did not expect it to smell like it does. Smell does dissipate pretty quick so just the initial application smell is rough then it is fine. I went on a cruise and used this after the sun each day and it worked great, I didn't burn and skin felt good. I do put sunscreen on but not like all the time, this has been a good recovery cream to help my skin not peel or burn when I got too much sun. (Which I did several days)

best product i've ever use for treating sunburn. works great on sensitive skins too. i have not peeled from a sunburn since i started using this product 10 years ago. i just slather it on after being in the sun and it re-hydrates my skin, so i keep the tan, and don't look like i'm molting. reduces itching, heat radiating, and pain associated with sunburn. used it from top of head to soles of feet. works great on all areas. wish i could find it in stores. i may just buy in bulk, so i always have a supply. if you work in the sun, and don't like all the negative effects of sunburns, this is your solution. just apply as soon as you can after being in sun. does have a mild scent, but more of combination of ingredients than and actual scent additive. completely recommend to anyone, anywhere that spends time in sun and may get sunburned. i've tryd using before going out in sun, doesn't work, only after being in sun. this is for all of us that dont bother with SPF's and just head out. this is for us.

I put this stuff on right after being in the sun and knowing I had gotten some color, and it never started to sting or burn like it would with regular lotion or aloe. It’s very moisturizing and hydrating. It rubs in really well and sinks in fast. Keeps my skin moisturized for a long time. It’s definitely worth the price. I trust Burt’s bees too. They make great products, and this is just another one! Will definitely be buying more of this when I run out.

This smells kind of weird and medicinal, but it is a really effective product. I bought it originally for my partner, because I never really get sunburn. It's lucky I did, because I managed somehow to get a shockingly bad sunburn the next weekend for the first time in my life. This stuff was magic. I used it along with an aloe vera cooling gel. This really helped with peeling and redness, and within a few days I looked more tanned than burnt-like-a-lobster. I highly recommend this lotion. It was definitely soothing, it calmed my skin, and it felt deeply moisturizing. It's kind of runny, which at first I thought was strange, but it is still moisturizing, and the runniness makes it much easier to rub in to hot, sunburned skin without causing too much discomfort. I used this on my body and face, and didn't have any major issues with breakouts (coconut oil doesn't really irritate my skin, but can irritate some folks). This is a must-have summer product for me now.

I am very fair and burn easily. Usual burns hurt for a while, I blister and peel pretty badly.I used this product after getting burned and I kid you not, the redness and sting of the burn was gone within 24 hours! I haven't blistered or peeled. I'm so impressed with this product and highly recommend this product as a moisturizer after sun exposure as well as a treatment for burned skin.
