Celestron 1.25-inch Neutral Density Moon Filter, Black

This review is for the Celestron Moon Filter Kit. The kit includes 4 filters, ND96-0.9, ND96-0.6, ND96-0.3 and a Moon and Skyglow filter that is actually beneficial while looking at planets as well as the moon while viewing in an urban environment where light pollution is an issue. The filters are well made and the threads are cut well for easy installation on any 1.25 lens. I found the focusing to be sharp and clear. The case is accessible by turning the clear lid clockwise or counter clockwise to open or close the container. The moon chart is more novel than packed with information. Nonetheless, it is a helpful guide for those just starting out and servers a duel purpose by protecting the lenses while not in use. I believe this lens kit is an excellent value for the money, and would recommend it for beginners to intermediate users. Those who are more on the serious side of astrophotography should look for something that would be of a higher quality optics. However I’ve attached a picture taken with my iPhone using the ND96-0.6 lens and was very impressed with the results. Overall it’s hard to beat this kit for the quality and the price.

Want to look at the moon with that expensive telescope you just bought for the kids. Yeah, you need this if you don't want to got blind apparently. As usual, they get you with the accessories, but for what it's worth this filter is of good quality and brings our astronomy options to a greater height. If you are going to have a telescope get one of these and a sun filter as well.
