5 Stars โ A Must-Read for Any Leader
Patrick Lencioniโs "The Five Temptations of a CEO" is a brilliant, concise book that hits the mark when it comes to exploring the challenges of leadership. As a General Manager myself, I found this book not only insightful but incredibly practical in helping to identify the traps leaders can fall into. Lencioniโs ability to distill complex leadership pitfalls into five simple temptations makes the book both relatable and actionable. Each temptation resonates deeply, particularly the danger of prioritizing popularity over accountability. This was eye-opening for me, as itโs easy to think that keeping everyone happy leads to success, but in reality, it compromises results and weakens the entire team. The narrative style, where Lencioni tells the story through a fictional CEOโs journey, makes the content engaging and easy to absorb. Rather than being bogged down by theoretical jargon, the lessons are clear and straightforward, which is refreshing. One of the strongest points of the book is its emphasis on vulnerability. Lencioni encourages leaders to embrace discomfort, admit their mistakes, and focus on collective results rather than personal success. Itโs a humbling reminder that leadership is about serving the team and company, not feeding personal egos. I give this book 5 stars because itโs a rare blend of storytelling, actionable wisdom, and genuine leadership guidance. Whether youโre a seasoned executive or a new manager, "The Five Temptations of a CEO" will challenge your approach to leadership in the best way possible. I highly recommend!

Worth reading.
Eminently readable. Entertainingly insightful. Have recommended it to colleagues. Definitely worth a read for middle and upper management, whether you hope to climb further or just to sit in judgement of those who aspire further. More importantly, the lessons here have value even if you aren't a CEO.
