Yep, there is fragrance! The Environmental Working Group has a database that rates health and beauty products by their relative safety based on ingredients. This one came up as a 5 out of 10 on the scale of relative 'harmfulness'. I still use it because I love how it smells and it works well for me. http://www.ewg.org/2014sunscreen/

I’ve purchased this in a store before and loved it—this product smells off and makes me wonder if the product is real or a knock off?

Beats me but I abandoned mine from Amazon - got a rash, thought it was sun burn but after switching to another product I am inclined to think something is off with the one I got. Also, the end of the tube gave way! Not a good sign. I will certainly not purchase Alba again, especially not from Amazon.
