Good value for a slightly better than average shave soap. Mild but pleasant scent that doesn't linger. Lathers pretty well with a bit of effort. Not luxurious, but, decent and pretty slick without being greasy. One and done for me as I prefer a soap that produces a much more cushioning lather.

I had been listening for years about how great the Kent shave soap was and I really did think it was a bit of a hype but decided to take the plunge recently and ordered it. For those who aren't aware, this is the famous MWF, only repackaged by Kent, probably with a better scent.I ordered the refill only. It arrived as it's shown here in the picture on Amazon. No box or anything, just the wrapped soap. Out of the wrapper...dry, it smelled very milky. Think Cella, if you've had a chance to use that Italian classic, without the bitter almond scent. I grated it into an empty ceramic bowl I had.I used an Omega boar brush with it the first time. Just a few drops of water on the soap, shook the soaked brush vigorously to get excess water out and then went to work. Man, this thing lathers so beautifully. I bowl lather. Swirled the brush for about 15 seconds on the soap, then proceeded to lather in the bowl. I got mounds of thick, creamy, cushioning lather. It was almost ridiculously good. I've read on several reviews and forums about how difficult this soap could be to lather. Well, I get very hard water here and the two times I've used this, once with boar and once with a Vie-Long horse hair brush, it has delivered very consistent results. I've never made lather this good and easy. Think whipped cream, you could easily fool someone into eating it, it looked so substantial.The initial scent, as I described earlier, is not very glamorous. Once you lather it though, it changes radically. It's still very subtle but it sheds its earlier bland character and there was this new, very complex fragrance... I'm not very good at defining scents... It's very delicate, almost a bouquet of spring flowers and fresh grass... very exhilarating, very nice.It performed very well, provided an excellent surface for the DE to glide on, extremely comfortable shave. One thing is that my skin was very taut when I had finished shaving and cleaned up my face. Not dry but taut, no razor burn though.I believe I'm a fairly experienced classic shaver and I'd definitely recommend this soap to a friend.

This is the perfect mentholated shaving cream and comes in a great travel size! The scent is incredible and Kent shaving cream provides a silky-smooth lather that lasts without sloughing off. It's easy to dispense and stores neatly on its cap.

Giving it a well-deserved five stars, although that puts Simpson ultra glide shave cream into the mid-7 stars, because that stuff is really insanely good, except Simpson costs more and doesn't have menthol, which I've grown very fond of, as someone who tends to run hot, especially in the summer months. So I did a little round-up of some popular low-cost shave creams with menthol: Proraso, Palmolive, Bigelow (really re-branded Proraso), and Kent. The Proraso eucalyptus smelled great, but for that was about all that was great about it. Palmolive was meh, Bigelow was a little better but still not very good, and then I tried the Kent last and they really knocked it out of the part. It is a clear winner in lathering of the group, for me the only one that makes a lather dense and slick enough to want to shave with. Kent is also by far the mentholiest? Most mentholated? Kent has the highest concentration of menthol by far. Not to say it's super strong or overwhelming at all. The others just had so little menthol I could barely feel it. So Kent gets a spot in the cabinet and I really look forward to using it, which is saying a lot because it's sitting next to Simpson lime and bay rum in there, but it really is that good.

In my quest for the holy grail of shave creams, I must continue my search. This is not to say that Kent is not high quality, just that I did not find in this the be-all end-all of shaving creams. The Kent cream was mentholated (which gives that exquisite post-shave tingling feeling). It also has an excellent lather, lubrication, and smoothness. Far superior to any supermarket creams and equivalent to a Proraso or Trumper product. The only downfall is the scent. It reminds me of laundry soap. Alas, my quest continues.

I had heard that Kent bought the rights and formula for fabled Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap. The packaging looked similar. So i ordered some. My favorite comb company producing my favorite shaving soap? What could go wrong. Well, quite a lot it seems. The first inkling things had gone awry was the scent. Clean, but not like Mitchell's.. Stronger. Definitely scented... So i check the ingredients: THIS IS NOT A TALLOW SOAP. What?! This is a totally different thing. A glycerine soap with Lanolin sure, but Mitchell's it ain't. To be honest, that's where my experience with this soap has ended. With William's now defunct as well (admittedly not the same tier as Mitchell's but I'd used it every bit of 30 years) my list of inexpensive tallow soaps grows short. Speick.. Arko.. Palmolive just got out of the shaving business too... Still, the Italians will be making good shave soap for the next hundred years, bless them. Time to stock up on Cella, I guess.. What a massive disappointment. RIP Mitchell's.. I will bury thee next to Bass Ale and Boddingtons in the crypt of fantastic English things too good for this planet. I will update if there is anything to write home about, but I basically understand now why i got the puck for 5 bucks..Edit: I apparently got some things wrong.. It seems Mitchell's had manufactured the aforementioned soap under the Kent banner in the UK. Now, as the company is defunct, Kent took the opportunity to modernize. I have now used it a few times, and as a glycerin soap, it is fine. Is it my favorite? No. Is it as bad as some other soaps on Amazon? No. It's a pretty decent soap for what it is though- certainly for the price. It lathers fine and i might put it in my rotation between col conk and van der hagen .. I'm just annoyed at how easy to watch all these products are getting worse, day by day. I just made an attempt to buy Tabac and found that they don't make the refills any more (at least for American markets..) That's three staple tallowate soaps discontinued or practically discontinued in the past few years.

Fits a Parker shave mug perfectly, makes a great slick lather, scent is clean and professional while being light and inoffensive. Great price point for a great shave soap. I have been trying to find soap pucks like the razorock triple mill soaps and this is a close as I could get for the similar price. If I could give this 10/5 I would.

Great budget shaving soap.

Luxury shaving should mean this! Really rich lather, makes shaving alot smoother with less or no irritation. Is a little tough to load properly, you may end up having to reload for your 2nd pass. But that's not a huge problem. Has a mild fragrance. Find a container to store it. No point in spending 2k extra for a wooden box! Happy shaving guys :D

After 4 shaves, this is one of the nicest creams I've tried for sure. It lathers well - I squirt a bit straight onto a wet brush and lather directly onto my face (this is the best method for me).The smell is nice and it gives a nice refreshing tingle when shaving. It leaves my face feeling soft and gives good razor glide. I will definitely buy this again at some point but have 4 creams now which will probably last me a year!!
