Best stand out there!
Love this stand! It looks sharp and the rotating feature works wonderfully. I've had it over 6months now and I've had zero issues. I use it on a daily basis. The prongs for holding the iPad are spaced just narrow enough that I can also place my iPhone 6 on it in the horizontal position. This stand is excellent for video chats and getting the right angle. It has a nice weight to it that makes it very solid and sturdy. The base is designed in such a way that I can leave the power cord in the groove and it stays tucked in nicely when not plugged into iPad. Keeping clutter and loose cords to a minimum. It gets comments from people in the office all the time. I've since purchased one for home as well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this stand.

Excellent stand. Quality construction. Heavy enough to securely anchor an iPad Pro 12.9".
This stand is an excellent stand, very high quality, heavy, and extremely stable with a 12.9 inch iPad Pro. There is nothing strapping the iPad to the stand, but a strap kit is offered for an additional $20 if you feel it necessary. But I really see no reason why this stand needs a strap unless you tilt the iPad down. It holds the iPad securely in portrait or landscape orientation. Without the strap its very easy to change between portrait and landscape. The bracket holds an iPad with the keyboard folio securely. The movable iPad bracket has a plastic collar holding a ball from the lower section. It does not need to be tightened and can be adjusted with minimal effort. There is a removable stud to screw the stand to a surface if used as a public display. Overall I am very pleased with this stand. Opted for the gray which is a little bit darker than pure aluminum. Its a great looking stand and puts the iPad forward for great viewing.

Classy looking, very useful iPad stand
Once I started to use my iPad as my task management venue of choice, I wanted a nice stand to put it on at work. I was looking for the following criteria, in no particular order: 1) looked nice & classy in my office 2) could hold a third-gen iPad while in the case (i.e., couldn't fit too snugly) 3) was sturdy & heavy enough not to move if I wanted to type an item into the list without removing the stand This stand exceeds all three criteria by a mile. Much like any iPad stand that I've run across, it looks a little strange in the office without the iPad in it, but it looks wonderful with the iPad nestled in the stand. The iPad is held up by the two small "arms" that protrude from the bottom of the mount portion of the stand. This holding mechanism lets it hold an iPad with a relatively thin case on it ... I'm not sure how it would do with a more full-sized case. (If it helps, I haven't tried it with my Dodocase but I think it would work ... just not with much room to spare.) From reading other reviews, it seems that the base on this model is heavier than the non-PRO model of this stand. I thought this PRO base was the right weight, and would not want anything lighter. Also, upon receiving the stand, I was curious to inspect the "cheap plastic bearing" on the back, that many other reviewers referenced. The "ball" that allows pivoting (similar to a ball and socket joint in your body, like a shoulder joint) is made of plastic, as well as the housing that tightens / loosens the joint. That said, it didn't seem flimsy to me, and mine certainly isn't broken at this time. I'll update my review if anything changes in the future. For what I was looking for, I would give this product five stars. I am completely satisfied with my purchase and would make it again. Jon

BEST ipad desktop stand. I agree !
GREAT USA made ipad stand. SOLID, great build quality. i have an ipad air 2, IN an otterbox defender case. and it fits NICE n SNUG, in the Stable PRO. i can even tilt it in profile mode and am never worried. i use the Grapple PRO to secure it for this purpose. absolutely worth it getting it. i think i agree in that it should come bundled with the 'Stable PRO' stand. built like a rock, beautiful design, american made. i hate cheap flimsy stuff, so you can imagine how pleased i was to find this product. recommended, if you have the funds. it was rather expensive to ship to canada, but i had a good year lol. oh yeah, i'm 5'4" w a regular build โฆ. another thing i use this stand for is when i'm sitting and lounging legs out on the couch or bed, i can turn this stand sideways, and place it so the bottom is under one leg, then i swivel the ipad so i can use it play my pinball app โฆ.. very handy indeed. this probably wouldn't work for a bigger person though lol update 2015: i just realized that i can use this stand to also display album covers !! โฆโฆ so i also use it for this purpose as well โฆ.. to show what record is currently on the turntable !

Almost looks like a work of art
I have an Apple iPad that I sometimes use at my desk. I am quite tall so that usual holders don't adjustable and I have to scrunch down to see it. I was a little extravagant and purchased this item. I do like it, but I do have some reservations. One is that it is very expensive for what it is, and that it was a significant amount less on the company's own web site. I still probably would have purchased it from Amazon for the conveniences it offer, but you may want to check both. I did not think that it was packaged very well for shipping, and my biggest complaint and what I would caution about is that when I received it, there was a problem There is a knob on the back that you are supposed to use to tighten it when you are adjusting the part that holds the iPad. I worked diligently and could not move it. Without adjustment my iPad just fell off. I took it to a friend who through tenacity and the use of channel locks got it apart. There was loose stuff inside that kept it from moving correctly. He cleaned it out and put it back together, and now it works perfectly. This isn't as much of a complaint as it is a caution if it happens to you. If you don't have someone very strong to get it apart, send it back without trying because the channel locks kind of tear apart the plastic so it can't be returned after. They have a wide variety of things are hold electronics. Pros: Does the job great when you can adjust Very sturdy Holds the iPad securely Cons: I think it is kind of expensive for what it is, but remember to keep that sturdy factor as a priority. A falling IPad is not a good thing.

Fantastic iPad stand made in the USA
Thought Out Stabile PRO Pivoting iPad 2 Stand is a great product made in the USA. I got this stand for use at trade shows. The iPad2 is a great device to show product information and this stand shows off the iPad2 very nicely. In fact several other exhibitors came to my booth wanting to know where I purchased the stand. Although it gives away my edge in presenting cool display items at my booth, I told them where to get it. We have offices in Canada and the UK and each of them have a stand for their trade shows. The stand is solid, high quality, and very stylish. The pivoting head is perfect for my purposes - showing a slideshow to an audience, manipulating pdfs, or typing out an email. I can adjust the angle of the iPad2 to comfortably perform these tasks. Plus the stand just has that cool factor. I use this stand in combination with a maclocks security iPad2 case for added security (less cool, but necessary).

Good Stand, But Broke with Minimal Use
We really like the stand - have used it for a company iPad stand at industry functions...except that it is completely broken. The pivoting part broke completely off from the stand part. I have reached out to the company as of today (12.14.14) and have asked for a resolution. Once I have resolution, I will either update my review positively or negatively! 12.13.14 Update. After sending a note to the company with a picture of the broken stand, they promptly responded that the issue was caused by user error, which I VEHEMENTLY disagree with. Below is the email they sent back to me: "Hi Monica, Thank you for contacting Thought Out Company and allowing us to assist you. The product is not welded together, the base is a solid piece all the way up INTO the ball. If the pivot nut is over tightened and locked onto the steel ball, and then, with only extreme force, the cradle holder is forcefully turned the shaft area near the ball will twist. This is highly evident in the photo provided at the very end of the break. There is a twist in the steel, notable of forceful use. This is not a manufacturing defect. The best we can offer is to contact the manufacturer directly for a replacement purchase of the steel base. Through "Amazon" we do not have purchasable replacement steel base parts available. Sincerely, Brandi Thought Out Company" I am not happy. And I do not agree. And I will not be purchasing a replacement stand. The portion that broke is ridiculously small in diameter to support the function it serves. I still maintain this is a design flaw in the product.

Bought this as an extra accessory... but it is my new best support for my iPad Pro.
I cannot say enough about how happy I am that I bought this guy! There are others out there that are SIMILAR and this one is one of the pricier ones... but wow! Think of it this way. It will still be useful 3 device upgrades from now! I bought this because I am tired of waiting for the Apple Keyboard and pencil to come in and I could not hardly use my new iPad Pro when it was lying flat all the time. It occurred to me that it would be nice to have a stand that raises the iPad to a level that does not strain my neck. I often use iPads (ya I have had several now) on my couch with a lap desk. I was worried about a stand like this on a lap desk. But this stand has really good grip on the bottom and it does not slide even when I shift about ... but ALSO, because it is easy to just lift off the stand I'll grab the Ipad off the stand and move the stand around a LOT. The ball bearing back is a much bigger deal than I thought it would be. I considered it to be a "perk" when I bought it and now I think it is a critical part of the stand. The rubber tips on the bottom of the frame that holds the iPad also really "grip" the tablet, even when I don't have it completely level. Two other unexpected perks to this stand are 1. that I can move the bluetooth keyboard under the device, while pulling the device closer in for me to see (watching movies and youtube on iPad pro is great), allowing me to keep the keyboard at a comfortable distance. As a touch typist, I really love that. 2. I take my tablet all over the house, including the kitchen when I'm cooking. having the tablet on the stand makes it both better to watch, and makes the sound even better. In the end I'm glad I had an extra bluetooth keyboard handy and that I had to wait for the Apple keyboard. I'll probably only use the Apple keyboard when I take my tablet out of the house. This is my new main stand!
