I cannot get this controller to display warm white, it only does cw. is it defective? (mine are 24vrgb-ww)

If you just light up CW ,well you just light up mixed white(red+green+blue) not pure white , please set the controller indicator lamp to green , the green lamp is RGBW mode . Does it work together with a led driver controlled by a wall switch dimmer? i.e., dimmer switch to led driver to this controller?

This WB5 controller work with power supply . For example ,you light up some DC12V FCOB 2700K LED strips , you need a AC-DC DC12V5A 60W power supply . Connect the DC12V5A to this WB5 controller, the connect connect the FCOB LED strip . And then you can use the APP WIFI control this controller , Or use a RF panel remote to control .
