Asus Mini Bluetooth Dongle (USB-BT211)

Comes with user .pdf CD and drivers CD (2 cds). It's a small package, don't cut the package open because you won't even know the cds are in there until you've knicked the cd's with scissors or knife, they're the mini CD's. On my Jawbone Icon headset I can listen to my mp3s and podcasts from my desktop at about 30 feet through walls so don't buy into the reported 100 meter range because that'd be for completely open line-of-sight transmission, but that's still much farther than my Jawbone can talk back to the dongle. For example, when using Skype from your bluetooth headset you may be able to hear your caller at 30 feet away, but your headset can't transmit back so they lose your voice. You may have to move closer, due to your headset's transmit power. The drivers included on cd are for 64bit and 32 bit machines. For those who wrote about drivers problems, I think they have missed the cds in the packing, I did at first. Bottom line, for sure: on a Win 64bit system using Vista, you'll find this a smooth install and feel you've made a solid purchase. 14 bucks won't buy a family dinner at McDs any more, and this purchase may last you for years, 24/7? Obviously too, you can pop it out of the desktop and take it with you on your laptop after you've loaded the drivers onto that machine. It simultaneously runs all your devices. It syncs my Blackberry wirelessly when I walk into range while printing something and talking on skype (when running the BlackBerry desktop software), runs my new printer without any wires around the floor to across the room, and lets my wife listen to her foreign language studies cd's from her machine using her wireless headset with her laptop without bugging me when I'm working online with business. Go for it, good product. Wish I'd bought one long ago, now buying another... for her, so she doesn't cob mine.

Tried to install on two Windows 7 (64) computers, and followed the directions. Took over two hours to install, started receiving weird messages such as "Error Applying Transforms. Verify Specified transform paths are valid." Would halt installation. Website was useless, even painful to navigate. Came up with a work-around: Identify the program suite name trying to install in "add/remove programs", in my case it was "Bluetooth Suite (64)", then do a command line find in regedit and locate the main install key. Then delete the entire key. Then it worked. Might be more than the "plug and play" consumer could accomplish; anyone with some experience in the registry would have little trouble. If these directions seem vague, search for the "error applying transforms...." message, and you should be able to locate additional resource. If you can get it to install, it appears to work flawlessly, and I am enjoying both of the ones I purchased. Linked two desktops, cellphones to both, and all now share a "not network capable" printer between them. I couldn't buy a print server, I don't think, for $20 that would make this happen. Good product, terrible driver support (Win 7 64), happy once installed.

To start with, now I live in Brazil, and it's pretty hard to get something here without paying an import tax. So I asked my friend to bring it to me from the US. So, finally I have this dongle, plug it in, after driver installation it starts working... great! I can find my bluetooth sound adapter for the speakers and it plays fine only for two-three minutes, then the sound breaks, disappears, appears, plays again, disappears for a moment. The same sound adapter works absolutely fine with Samsung Galaxy None 2. I found out that if I touch the dongle with my hands or something that can transmit my energy to (or from) the device to my body, the dongle plays flawless. I believe that the transmitting module in the device is malfunctioning, as Windows does not detect the device as disconnected when the sound disappears. A slight touch with a hand - and the sound is back! I'd be grateful for any tips and tricks of how I can avoid touching the dongle to make it play (it's some basic electronics knowledge, but I'm not good with that), kind of attaching a battery to it with a sticky tape, powering it with laser beans coming from my eyes, using metal foil to increase the signal or something. I don't want to send it back to Amazon, as it is going to take eternity to deliver, and the delivery price is going to be double the price of the device. Thanks, Alex.

Aunque como bien indican los drivers te los tienes que descargar de la web de Asus por lo que respecta al funcionamiento va de perlas. Tengo conectado unos auriculares Muvit que también adquirí en Amazon y no se corta...recomiendo la compra totalmente. No me parece para nada caro.

Micro adattatore funzionale, si installa in automatico su Windows 7 e Windows 8,(dotato in ogni caso di minidisk driver e istruzioni) le sue caratteristiche ''micro'' lo rendono versatile sia per portatile che per desktop,affidabile e resistente,buona la portata di campo, fà tutto quello che dice,anche se datato( allo stesso prezzo si prendono dispositivi con interfaccia + recente) Amazon - ve lo ce - servizio spettacolare.

Au niveau qualité rien à redire (qualité Asus) . Le produit est également garantie 1 ans. Il dispose également d'un très bon débit de transfert 3 Mb/s (testé sur Sony Xperia S et Sony MW600). Le produit est facile d'installation et reconnu sous win7/xp/linux. Si vous souhaiter passer au Bluetooth sur votre Pc posez vous la question : "Pour quelle utilisation ?" Soit vous l'utiliser peu vous achèterez surement une bidouille à 8 € qui sera fichu au bout de 4 mois (ou qui ne couvrira peut être pas la zone ou vous voulez l'utiliser). Ou alors vous ferez confiance à une marque reconnu, votre produit dura plus de 30 ans et sera toujours au maximum de ses capacité (vitesse de transfert / portée) pour 10 € de + seulement.

Works with Ubuntu 10.04, using the ath3k driver. You will need to install 'linux-backports-modules-lucid-generic' and 'linux-firmware-nonfree' packages and then reboot. The range is much better than other £2 to £5 usb dongles I had. I used to have problem sending a2dp music to my hi-fi from within the same room. With this adapter I do not have that problem anymore. If I move to a different room, the a2dp music will fail (not enough bandwidth) but that was expected. Do not either expect it to work 100m indoors. Overall it is a great product, not the cheapest but worth the money.

Und dieser spruch hat meistens seine Richtigkeit.Hab mir vorher bei Saturn un dem Namenhaften Hersteller welher mit "H" beginnt ein Bluetooth USB Dongel gekauft. Nix besonderes , halt billig. Der Funktionierte zwar aber nach dem Kauf eines Smartphones war es etwas schwiriger dem BT Stick beizubringen das er das Handy erkennen soll. Auch unter win7 konnte man es vergessen. "Heute" hab ich den ASUS stick... WAU ! Das nenne ich Bluetooth Tehnik. Vorab, Verpackung Katastropfe - ist diese Verschweiste Plastik Packung - die man nur mit einem scharfen Messer aufbekommt. Drin nur eine Mini CD und Kurz Anleitung in 1000 Sprachen. Dachte erst ich müsste auch die Internet Treiber nutzen - wie hier beschrieben - ist aber nicht nötig. Die Treiber auf der Mini CD sind die selben wie im Netz auch. Jedenfalls für Win7 64bit 1. Alle Bluetooth Treiber & Software Deinstallieren, (falls vorher was drauf war) 2. Treiber der CD Installieren 3. Neustart. 4. Bluetooth Stick anschließen - treiber werden geladen. 5.Fertig. Große Software von ASUS ist jetzt nicht dabei - das ist alles eher im Hintergrund. Microsoft behält die Einstellungen sowie die Verwaltung der Geräte, aber diese sind durh aus besser , da ASUS mehr möglichkeiten Anbietet... Alles in einem Läuft es Perfekt. DAS Besste - man erkennt nun auch die Signalstärke des Verbundenen Bluetooth geräts.. Finde ich Gut.. Z.z. höre ich über den PC Musik vom Handy - klasse. Daten Rate bei der Übertragung bei ca. 300kb/s für Bluetooth o.k. Kaufen? Ja unbedingt... wer ein vernümpftigen Stick haben will... auch werden alle Profile unterstüzt.. So kann ich auch mein Handy als Telefon nutzen jedoch über das Headset des Pc sprechen - Einziges Manko , man muß das was man will selbst einschalten, Einfach an und los geht nicht.. Aber ist o.k. ----> NACHTRAG Was auch Prima Funktioniert - man kann auch mit dem Handy jetzt Gespräche führen in dem Man der Software sagt - Handy als Freisprech einrichtung nutzen. Dann kann man mit seinem PC Headset Telefonieren - sowie trotzdem das Handy mittels Bluetooth mit dem Handy verbunden lassen um z.b. auf das Telephone buch zu zu greifen... In meinem Fall ist es "MyPhoneExplorer" .. Super sache... Einziges MANKO... und hier bitte beachten.. In meinem Rechner (wie bei vielen auch) sind die meisten USB Ports hinten im Tower - das Netzteil stört jedoch diese Funk verbindung drastisch - so das man das gerät bei dieser Verbindung (Frei sprechen) schon fast am Dongle legen muss. Ursache ist nicht der Dongle selbst - sondern Das Netzteil - weil hier Elektromagnetische störsignale ausgehen - die die Funkverbindung stören. Hatte ich bereits mit anderen Dongels auch - sei es WLAN oder Funkverbindung zu Maus und Tastatur. Hier hilft nur eines ... Den Dongel von hinten nach Vorne holen... Entweder hat man vorne am Tower anschlüsse, oder man kauft sich noch ein USB Verlängerungs kabel... wo dann der Dongel drin steckt - die andere seite ist halt am USB port des PC drin. Damit er nicht runterfällt klebt man ihn mit Tessa am Gehäuse fest. Mehr als 4m sind ohne diese Massnahme nicht drin... jedenfalls bei mir.. Der Dongel selbst - ist echt super... Läuft bestens auf Win7 64Bit.
