Valet Stand Finish: Walnut

UPDATEI requested to return this item or have it replaced and the email from the seller stated, " You can put your item in a cross ventilated room for a few days you can also wash it off with vinegar". I find this unacceptable and am now awaiting a response. I wiped down the item with a cleaner, even though when I purchase a new item, I certainly don't expect to have to clean it before use. It did not work. It has been in my garage to keep it out of the rain but I don't see how more exposure to moisture could have made it any worse. Who knows what spores or bacteria are causing the odor. I do not want this item and I am very unhappy to still have it in my possession. I want to throw it away but I want to make sure I receive my money back!It smells atrocious like mold/mildew. At first I thought it was jus the packaging, so I unpacked it and threw the box and wrappings away outside. I put it together and wiped it down with Clorox wipes. The next morning, the odor had permeated the entire room. I placed it outside for a day to aerate and it still stinks. There is no way I can put my clothes on this, let alone bring it back into my home. I have contacted the seller and hope to get a replacement because, otherwise, the product is exactly as listed and is really nice.

This piece of furniture that I bought for my husbands clothing to hang after work smelled terrible it smell of mildew toxic water that was left a leaking pipe smell. Our entire walk in closet smelt as if there was a terrible water leak ...... we had to report the odor and then after move it throughout the house we realized was the butler its now outside and still smells toxic and of mildew
