In your features description you state 3-4 players but on the official catan.com website it states 2-4 players, please clarify.

I play using the regular rules of Catan, and we’ve done all of the B&T expansions with two people, and we like it perfectly fine. The one we haven’t tried is Catan for Two expansion with the dummy player ironically, it looks fun but my playing partners aren’t interested. Honestly, four people on the base board is too much IMO. I don’t have the 5-6 expansion, but I’ve heard 4 is better on that.

I have the base Catan game and we usually play with the 5-6 player expansion. Will this work with 5-6 players?

You will also need a T&B 5-6 Player Expansion to play the "Scenarios" offered. There are a couple of "Variants", however, that alter the base game slightly which can be played with 5-6 players. An example of a "Variant" is a deck of cards with numbers 2-12 that players draw from instead of rolling dice. Some of these cards have Events like "Plots with Cities adjacent only receive 1 Resource". Hope this helps!

compatible with 5th edition core game?

Yes. Any of the Catan Games with this vertical box art style is going to be 5th edition (most current edition). Boxes with the horizontal box art and the name "Settlers of Catan" are going to be 4th and previous editions.

Is this item brand new or used? Does it have the plastic wrapping?

Amazon does not allow sale of used games in the New condition. They should come with intact shrink wrap. On occasion, the wrap might be slightly torn, but that does not impact the quality.Dave
