5-Star Support: Great durability, comfort, and effectiveness
High impact sports often lead to joint injuries, especially in young developing athletes. However, they can be avoided. I have gotten numerous ankle injuries in my six years playing volleyball, but they not only lessened but stopped entirely when I bought these McDavid ankle braces. These braces are a great product that I would most definitely recommend for their durability, comfort, and effectiveness. The braces consist of tie-up laces in addition to straps that wrap around the foot and strap across the top. Together, these aspects ensure a strong and durable product that provides efficient support to both ankles without trapping them. It’s flexible yet stable in the way that you can easily adjust the tightness and position of the foot while also keeping the ankle strongly in place. It’s a well-designed product that provides great support and strength without limiting mobility. In addition to the laces and straps, the design is also built for comfort. The braces allow a good amount of compression without being uncomfortable, which also grants confidence in motion. They have a comfortable padded lining, and the straps are adjustable for a custom fit. The braces are snug but breathable, and ensure protection with ease. As durability and comfort are both very important topics, effectiveness is the most vital, and these braces do not disappoint. With every practice and game with these braces, I have stayed clear of injury and my strength and confidence in my movement have grown. Others have also confirmed that the braces also help heal already injured ankles by giving them support and comfort. There are many advantages to investing your money into this product. However, some have found that putting on the ankle braces is too much of a hassle in comparison to other, simpler brands. But let me assure you that the extra minute that you take into putting on these braces goes a long way in keeping your body supported and safe. I have given the McDavid ankle braces a well-deserved 5-star rating for their durability, comfort, and consistent effectiveness. With their support and assistance, I can move with ease and keep unwavering confidence in my bodies’ safety. Without a doubt, they are a great and highly effective product that I can easily rely on, and I recommend that you do too.

Good support, but not great
There's so much Velcro on it that it gets tangled up in itself when you are trying to put it on or remove it, and if you don't put it back together when you are done with it, it will catch on (and ruin) everything it comes in contact with. It does give fair to medium ankle support, and I definitely feel more stable (my problem is a weak ankle, not an injury) when I'm wearing it than not, but still. I could wish for a little less side-to-side wobble. These are definitely sized for men. I'm an adult female with medium bone structure, shoe size 8-1/2M, and I'm in the Small. Update: You can get a little extra support by lacing it up good and tight, but you can't wear it all day that way without it hurting. My solution to this has been to snug it up when I'm going to be especially active, loosen it when I'm done. When you remove it, place the hook-and-loop sections back on top of each other, and it won't catch on the rest of your clothing, carpet, bedding, whatever, and snag it. When you get ready to put it back on, lace it up first, then remove & apply one strap at a time to avoid the tangling problem. You wear it over a sock to pad your foot against it: Two socks would be better, and if I remember correctly that's what's recommended on the packaging, but of course then that's going to affect how your shoe -- even a lace-up athletic shoe -- fits. So that's not practical for most people. So I've been wearing it with one sock, and that works pretty well but the laces do leave marks on the top of my foot if I snug them down too tight. It's machine washable, which is lovely. I put mine in a lingerie bag. Both of mine are black -- works best with dark-colored shoes and sox, jeans, slacks, etc. but I'm thinking when summer comes I might buy a white one to go with the lighter-colored/white sneaks and white socks of the season. Mine's worn out, and I just ordered a new one today. I'm amazed to see that it lasted 2-1/2 years with daily use! I looked at some that seemed to offer more support, and still settled on this one. The old one is raggedy but I'll keep it for a backup when this one is in the laundry. I upgraded my rating from 4 stars to 5 based on 2-1/2 years experience with one. With a prescription orthotic, one could certainly get more support, and my ankle may well be headed that way, but. For the money, and for something thin that slips into your shoe easily (I only wear lace-ups, so the top of the shoe is a non-issue), this is the perfect wrap.

Secure and Comfy
I like this brace a lot! COMFORT It’s a lot more comfortable than others I’ve tried, which have the metal support on the sides. COMPRESSION The compression is evenly distributed around my entire ankle. I appreciate that it can be tightened with the shoe strings and the Velcro. SUPPORT It provides high support without the discomfort of the metal strips that many other braces put on the sides. My ankle is completely stabilized in this brace. COST The price is fair for a good quality brace. DURABILITY This brace appears to be far more durable than other braces I’ve tried. For instance, I have one by ACE, which has lint balls on it after just one week. BULKINESS This brace is a bit bulky than others I’ve tried. I suppose due to the figure-8 style where the straps wrap around the arch of the foot, it’s nearly impossible to wear shoes. I’ve been wearing either Birkenstocks, Nike slides, or low UGG boots. (-½ star) GETTING IT ON/OFF Putting it on and taking it off as proven to be a bit more difficult than I would like. Since the brace keeps my ankle so secure, it makes sense that it’s difficult to take off, but it’s also inconvenient to take off. I literally have to loosen the laces all the way down the brace before being able to remove it. (-½ star) OVERALL This ankle brace works well for me. I’d certainly recommend it to a friend.

Great Brace for Post Ankle Surgery
I got this to help with the last leg of my recovery post ORIF ankle surgery. It's an excellent brace and really secures your ankle. The material is high quality. I used it every day for 1.5 months and it has held up really well with minimal wear and tear. My physiotherapist liked it too for how secure it was. It can be a bit tiresome to lace it up everytime you put it on but it's comfortable enough to wear while laying down (unlike a boot) so I wasn't always taking it off. The only real caveat - it takes up a lot of room so you won't be able to wear it with every shoe.

Comfort and Support A+
I am 50-years-old, an everyday runner, and over the years, mostly when I was younger, I have sprained my right ankle 4 times; twice playing basketball, and twice running. That being said, I have been running in an ankle brace for 20+ years as I never know when my ankle will just decide to tweak and give out when I hit a small rock, or crack or hole, throwing the bottom of my foot off-balance and causing it to give out, thus causing injury. I lost a McDavid 195 ankle brace I bought before so I to decided to buy this 199 model. I was real happy with the one I lost but it did not have the wrap around Velcro straps. I went out running in the 199 for the first time yesterday. The 195 held up beautifully and I found it to be the best supporting ankle brace I had ever owned. Pros - Comfort: I found this brace to be a better fit inside my shoe. It is hinner and the slick material out of which it is made allows it to slide into the shoe with no issues. Support: I felt very supported and very confident while running that I was not going to injure my ankle. Con - The only negative I see is that lacing and strapping it up can be a challenge as the Velcro of course wants to stick to everything; the laces, the floor, your shoe... but it would not keep my from buying it again as I buy a brace for the Pros I mentioned above.

Comfortable and stable
I got this after a grade 2 sprained ankle. I am loving it. Very comfortable once you know how loose or tight to lace it. I haven’t worn it all day but I think I could. I wear it over a sports sock with sneakers and it works fine. I had no issues with chafing. I could not wear it with hiking boots though. Once you get used to putting it on and off it is not difficult. I tried another one that was neoprene and not lace up but it provided no stability. Would highly recommend this brace. I wear a women’s size 8 narrow shoe and the small fit great.

Fits and looks great.
I fractured 3 metatarsals 6 weeks ago. I will soon be using this while wearing my shoes. I used it yesterday while around the house, a "safe" place, where I don't quite require the boot for protection. It feels firm, it is not heavy and it's easy to put on (do not put on if your foot is swollen!) Can not yet put shoes on because weight, pressure and side to side movements cause me pain but I'll get there soon 😃 it's not overly bulky but of course, it's there, so I will require a bit of room but will fit in the shoe just fine. I can see this helping a lot with ankle fracture or breakage because it does keep that area align or just for protection. Great price too.

Good Brace But Difficult to Wear On An Every Day Basis
Purchased the brace for my girlfriend and she's been complaining about how she can't wear it with anything. The brace is too big to go in a shoe and she needs it for running. Unless the manufacturer can tell us how and when she can wear it, I', just going to return this for the time being. But she did say the brace offers her stability and support to her ankle.

Good products
It was a good chunk cheaper than rebel sports. I think like 30 so worth it on that side. this specific type as it has a higher Velcro wrap not just laces
