Aarke Carbonator 3 - Premium Sparkling Water Maker, Matte Black

To start, I really like carbonated water. I carbonate and drink 3 liters per day. I bought this carbonator 3 1/2 years ago and it's still going strong. It works well, and I prefer the screw-in method for bottles compared to the "quick lock" mechanisms. Why? Those quick lock machines end up dying after 12-24 months of use. Either the lock mechanism fails or the gasket that makes it have a seal deteriorates or breaks. After going through 5 or 6 Sodastream machines (their machines are crap) and one KitchenAid machine, I read about aarke. It's much higher quality, and I'll never buy another machine using quick lock. aarke is an expensive machine without a lot of bells and whistles, but it works really well and is very durable.

I purchased this unit in April of 2023, I use it heavily, multiple times a day. At first I used it for soda flavors, but then started using teat packets to make fruit flavored water. On average, daily use is at least 4-5 liters per day. I just noticed that I seemed to be going through more tanks lately. So I looked it up online, the unit comes with a spare gasket at the bottom apparently, Mine did not have one, for whatever reason. I send customer service an email about where I could get a replacement, and they are sending them out. I have used several other carbonators in the past, this one as out lasted all of them. It's also looks great and is exceptionally well made. It looks as good as the day I bought it. The best part of the design is the open housing, it is much easier to clean as it air dries naturally, the drip plate is easy to remove, and also is old metal. So you don't get the wear and tear that you see on ones made from plastic.

Works great, does not fill with water. Love it.

I have used a lot of carbonators over the years. This is by far the best one I have used. It makes the strongest bubbles consistently. The unit itself is looks great in my kitchen with my other stainless steel appliances. I think it is a great carbonator and worth the cost.

Expensive, but worth the price. If you follow the expert advice and only push it halfway for the first two it works wonderful. Looks sleek and beautiful. So far, I love it.

I wanted to get my spouse a carbonation machine to cut down on the use of plastic bottles. The decision was between this machine or a soda stream, and it looks like I should have went for the latter. The first Aarke I received was obviously a used unit from Returns, so I opted for a replacement. The second unit I received was a new unit, but I should have sensed something was wrong when the expiration date for the bottle was June 2023, only 6 months from purchase. For comparison, I purchased another bottle by itself and the replacement date was for 2025. The unit worked great the first four times we used it, then on the fifth use there was almost no carbonation. I was shocked that a CO2 cylinder would only last that long, but we went ahead and replaced it. Sure enough the Aarke with a brand new cylinder still produced the same results. We sent an email to customer support with all of the necessary information and received a boiler plate response. As part of the response, the company asked us to take apart the device to check gaskets and fittings. I'm not tearing apart a new device that should be working properly, the only response should have to replace the unit. There's no way I can recommend this machine. Stay away.

update 5/22/2025: my replacement aarke is working just fine after almost 2 years and i'm very happy with it. update 7/17/2023: no one responded to my second attempt to contact aarke customer service. however, 6 days after that second attempt at contact, i finally got a response (after 28 days of silence) from the person who was originally communicating with me. they told me that my replacement would be shipping soon. five days later, i received my replacement. while i'm happy to get a replacement, the process was far from simple or efficient. it was 34 days from the day i first sent a message to aarke customer service to the day i got my replacement. i dropped my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars as a result of this bad experience with their customer service department. i hope that my replacement lasts longer than the original unit. should it fail, i'll try to remember to further amend this review. update 7/6/2023: my aarke broke about 2-1/2 months after i bought it. i contacted aarke through their website. on june 13th 2023 the rep told me that i was eligible for a replacement. since that time (22 days ago), i have sent 3 messages which have received no response. today i contacted aarke through their website again, telling them about this issue. i'll update this review again when i have new information. original review: i bought a Sodastream in 2018. it died in less than 4 years. when shopping for a replacement, i found that they had discontinued my previous model and i wasn't happy with the design of the newer models. nevertheless, i bought the one i disliked the least. i used it for almost a year, but was never very happy with it. it felt cheap, and i feared it would break, so i started looking around for an alternative. i'm very happy that i found the aarke. unlike my 2 Sodastreams, the Aarke is made of metal, and it feels so much sturdier during use. it also has a large open area where you screw the bottle it, which is very nice. and unlike my Sodastream, i don't have to push a lever with one hand and screw the bottle in with the other hand. i can use both hands to screw in the bottle, with no annoying lever to deal with. also, my Sodastreams were inconsistent and it was pretty much impossible to get the same level of carbonation every time. the way the Arkee works is that you pull a lever and it fills the bottle with gas until it reaches a certain pressure, then it makes a "fun sound" to let you know to release the lever. the "fun sound" is the Aarke releasing built up pressure. i like my water heavily carbonated, so for me it's 3 pulls of the lever and i get the exact same amount of carbonation every time. it's perfect! finally, due to the Aarke releasing the pressure after each pull of the lever, you don't get a mess when you unscrew the bottle. my Sodastreams would spray water all over when i removed the bottles. with the Aarke, i get maybe a drop or two or water wasted after each use. this is a simple, sturdy, well-designed carbonator that works with my Sodastream bottles, as well as my Sodastream and Soda Sense CO2 cannisters. i'm very happy with my purchase.

I got mine in 2022 and I've witnessed no deterioration in functionality or looks in the 4 years since. The screw-in latching is better for carbonation and more durable than the latch-on ones, absolutely. However, let's be frank, you're not buying this for its functionality. You're buying this because it's pretty. Just beware that if you don't want it to be the kitchen's focal point, it may be worth looking at a more subtle carbonator.

We have it 6 months and it doesn't work anymore... For this high price product, this is a shame please contact me to fix this.

If ypu like sparkling water this is the product you need. Only disadvantage is you cannot sparkle your juices or infused water with it. I am happy with this product.

Update: New device arrived. Hope this time it works. Will keep you posted Very disappointing experience. The soda machine worked for only two days before the gas started escaping from the side whenever the bottle was screwed in, making it impossible to carbonate anything. We went through two gas cylinders that were completely wasted because of this defect. The first machine was already broken, and the new one still hasn’t arrived. Based on this experience, it is much better to send the faulty unit back and order a completely new one instead of asking for a replacement, as the replacement process takes much longer. The concept of the product is good, but reliability and the speed of handling defective units need serious improvement. At this price point, the machine should work properly and issues should be resolved faster.
