I have bought many expensive tea kettles that don’t hold up to a gas flame. They become tarnished and enamel wears away. This kettle was inexpensive, is cute and is holding up very well! Heats quickly and whistles!

It has a loud whistle, which I wanted, as I go may go into another area of the house or lanai and want to be sure I hear it. Nice slate blue color.

UPDATE: I’ve had this kettle for about 8 months and I’ve used it a LOT. I’ve had ZERO issues out of and my first review was just me nitpicking lol. I absolutely adore this thing and I’ve received tons and tons of compliments whenever I post pictures on Instagram and Facebook! Friends that have came over and had tea with me all said it’s really pretty and feminine. I’ve changed my original rating from a 3 star to a 4 star. There’s nothing wrong with my kettle and it’s never rusted. If you pour out the remaining water and towel dry it after every use, you won’t have anything to worry about as far as rust or hard water build up.I’m giving this kettle just 3 stars because: 1.) There were no directions in the box or really any protective padding. 2.) There is NOT a fill line on the inside of the kettle at all. 3.) In order for the kettle to whistle, you need to fill it up until about an inch or two below the spout. I’ve read that you’re also not supposed to use a high heat setting on your stove, but to use hot water from the tap (or wherever you get your hot water) and use only medium heat so that the bottom doesn’t scorch. Which makes since, but it would take several minutes before it would get to a rolling boil and the kettle to whistle. I use high heat anyways and so far, no issues whatsoever. 4.) The spout is a little weird as far as placement goes, so it’s not super easy to pour all of the water out. 5.) The color of the kettle is MUCH lighter than it shows online, as you may be able to tell by my photo and video. Despite a few issues, none of these are a total deal-breaker and I still think this kettle was worth the $30 and some change I spent on it. I’m very happy to have found this on sale! I’m also a first-time kettle user at the age of 37, and I have no idea how I’ve managed this long without owning or using a kettle! This kettle is really cute and seems to be well made. When I posted it on my Instagram, ladies went nuts over it and said they absolutely had to have one! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that mine doesn’t rust like a lot of people have stated theirs did. If anything changes, I will change my review to reflect that!

I love it. Way more than another fancy brand - cost more than double this one that the top broke < a year ago - can use the handle without protection and looks good. My paint is fine and have had it for 4 months used daily

UPDATE with photo: Several years later and still as beautiful and functional as the day I bought it. With the proper care.I was a little hesitant to purchase this kettle due to so many reviews of rusting and burning, etc. However, after having and using this kettle for 6+ months mine is just as beautiful, functional, and rust free as the day I bought it. Such a gorgeous and delicate piece does require some care, however if you want to keep it beautiful, functional and rust free. This is not the kind of kettle that you can just throw onto a gas flame on high and leave sitting filled with water for 2 weeks in between uses. With a little care and consideration for the product, it will last and be usable for a very long time I imagine.First, if you're using a gas burner, heat on medium heat. Do not crank the burner up so that the flames engulf around the base of the kettle. That's how you get burns on the beautiful design. Yes, it takes a little longer for the water to heat up, but it also preserves the integrity of the kettle. I would say, turn the burner on as high as it will go WITHOUT the flames wrapping around the sides of the kettle for best results.Second, don't let water sit in the kettle between uses. After you use it, empty the water out and take off the lid. Wipe the excess water from the lid with a paper towel and place the kettle (without lid) back onto the burner you just used to heat your tea water. Make sure the burner is set to off and the spout of the kettle is open. The residual heat from the burner should be enough to evaporate any water left in the kettle after draining. Once the excess water has evaporated, you can return your dried kettle lid to the kettle and store it on the stovetop or wherever you choose without having to worry about rust.That's all. Super simple. Just a couple of things to keep in mind if you want this beautiful kettle to last and stay gorgeous.

I love this kettle. Very attractive, and works perfectly on my induction range. Light-weight and easy-to-use mechanism. Whistle is NOT a lovely sound, but that's kind of the point! ;)
