The story is about a Bird and Squirrel odd couple and their miss adventures. Very cute and funny. Our local library, book mobile, suggested this book for my son. He has a learning disability and is be low grade level for reading comprehension. This book was also above his reading level (at the time). I was sure he didn't read it at all. This series is graphic novel style. When the book was returned the librarian asked what his favorite part was. My son flipped right to the pages that was his favorite and told the woman all about what happened as well as most of the story. I was thrilled. I have bought the all 4 books. My son has read them over and over. They are still some of his favorites. Review: We love Bird & Squirrel! Way to go James Burks! - My kids (all boys) really enjoy graphic novels. This series is definitely one of our favorites! (I like reading it too :) We love Bird's happy-go-lucky personality and Squirrel's uptight accountant personality and the way that plays out when they're out adventuring together. We love the humorous and creative storyline- it's especially nice that there's no crude stuff. (We're tired of finding out *after* we order a children's book, that the dialogue is full of annoying crude predictable humor). We have all 4 books in the Bird & Squirrel series and my 10 year old regularly re-reads through all of them- which is saying something because he doesn't really like reading. Thank you so much James Burks! Please keep them coming! (We've pre-ordered "All Tangled Up" and my son can't wait to read it :)

Recomond for reluctant readers.

We love Bird & Squirrel! Way to go James Burks!

Great book series
My 8 year old loves these books. They are easy to follow and entertaining!

Can't-Put-It-Down Kid Reading
SUCH a great book!!! My beginning reader loved it- he was fully engaged in the characters and story and the fabulous and colorful illustrations gave him great context clues and another mechanism of engagement. He literally didn't put the book down from start to finish - the first time he's ever been that invested in a read. My advanced reader equally loved the story and characters and both kiddos got tons of laughs out of the book and are now ready to tear through everything else James Burks puts out. So so thankful to him for really "getting" kid readers and writing a book they want to dive so fully into!!!

Fun, Quick Read w/ My 9 y/o
150 pages flew by reading this to my 9 year old son (to whole I’ve read to nearly ever night of his life). He said he read it in school on his own and asked me to get it on Kindle to read to him again because he loved it so much. Now, I think we’ll go onto the next book in the series!

My kids love these books!
Perfect for my 6 and 8 yo kids. The plot is appropriate for young readers and the colorful illustrations to keep them engaged. We ended up buying all of the books in the series.

It was a great graphic novel that talks about survival and adventure. Squirrel, who is very scared, embarks on an adventure with his best friend, Bird. But they 'd better watch out , because Cat is on his way...
