Doheny's Above Ground Solar Cover Reel Systems (Fits Pools Up to 24' Wide, Deluxe Wheel)

Five stars for the product itself!Applying the product and using it on a large above ground pool is proving somewhat of a challenge, but manageable and faaaar better that manually rolling-up the cover with two or three people! 😎👍1) ours is applied to a 24' above ground Intex pool. Attaching it to the frame is a bit sketchy but secure. We went with the unit just off center, rather than on one end, because i don't want to wrestle with folding large portions of the cover so it fits on a shorter reel.2) un-rolling this is our biggest challenge. Its a large pool and big cover doesnt want to unroll in two directions without some manual help. It's easier from inside the pool, but still challenging. It's not impossible from outside the pool, but a stiff breeze can hinder the work.3) I've been tying the cover on center (will use a bungie soon) because it tends to unroll. The better solution will be to lift one end of the reel and store it on a post, or completely set it aside.Im quite happy with the product, still working-out kinks in the use of it, ive only had it a few days (as of 6/24/2025).We have a pool robot on order, thank God! 🤠

Ultimately a great addition to the pool. Keeps heat in at night and allows some sun to penetrate. We had to build two wood towers to hold the roll-up pole. Without that, it would be a nightmare to spread it over the pool every day.

We have never had a reel so we decided to get one and after reading reviews we decided on this one. It is so nice to keep our cover off the ground and moving this around is so easy. I would definitely recommend this. The only thing that I would have liked was explanation on how to attached it to our cover

I think the concept of this idea is good. Performance is OK. The durability could be better. The stability is OK. I felt like I wasted my money on this product because combined with the cover use a lot of dirt ends up on top and it defeats the purpose of using it because then it goes into your pool, so I am no longer using either one.

We got this for a 24’ round pool.The directions were terrible and the middle section was long enough for the minimum of 9” inserted inside the tubes on both ends .Seems like it should have been able to be inserted about 20” on each end as the reel is not straight when placed into the reel holder across the pool and drooping down ward in the middle even before the solar cover was attached.It is not as well made as we were lead to believe.The reels are sturdy and solid,but the tubes are not.Would not buy this again.

So far so good! Makes getting the solar cover off and back on so much easier!

The instructions sucked. But I figured it and made it work. It’s great the arm swings but there is no bracket to hold it. We just roll it up and lift off the pool and set aside

Easy to assemble and works as good as our old one.
