Water-Based Gel Stains by Retique It (32oz Stain, 50 Weathered Wood)

This stain is true grey. No blue/purple undertones. It’s easily layered to give a range from light to dark grey, perfect for matching to weathered wood. I went through about four in-store stains before finding this. Another thing to note is that it has a very mild smell, so it’s easier to use inside compared to other stains. I used this to match the “reclaimed” wood wall kit you get from the big box store.

This product totally ruined my coffee table project. I bought it because it's sold as a beginner or "easy" product to use, but it dries so quickly (within seconds) that it's unforgiving, especially for someone just starting out. The result was a horrible, chunky, and streaky-looking finish. I wasn't able to return it within the 30-day time frame because I purchased it and THEN became sick with pneumonia for over a month and a half. Unfortunately, I didn't find out that this product didn't work for me until after the return date had expired.

Omg this stain is amazing! This is a dark wood dresser that I am in the process of refinishing. I sanded dresser a bit to get good off, 1 light coat of gray chalk paint then the gel stain 3 coats to get the gray I wanted. LOVE IT
