Silicon Power 32GB Jewel J80 USB 3.0 Flash Drive, Titanium (SP032GBUF3J80V1T)

This flash drive is awesome. i bought it to put on my Keyring and I don't think I could have picked a better drive. Its slightly smaller than any of my standard sized keys and feels durable, there's no weak string holding it on so it will be on there for a long time to come. I bought the 32 GB version for ample space for movies and such and the transfer rates are awesome! it operates at 4x the write speed of some of my older flash drives and gets work done fast!Lifetime warranty sweetens the deal so much.It also water-proof according to the packaging so that's also a plus, though i haven't tried it and don't really plan on it its a nice little re-insurance even though it probably wouldn't matter because there's a lifetime warranty!

I bought this in June for my first computer with USB 3.0. It worked fine for about two months but now will not be recognized by my Roku. The USB 2.0 version of this thumb drive is recognized but the newer and more expensive 3.0 version is not. Sure, it's less than $20 and outside the Amazon return period so maybe I should just accept bad quality control from Silicon Power. It is still irking, though, because flash technology is not cutting edge and thumb drives should not fail after only a few months. I'll write them or maybe they read these comments; if I get some kind of satisfaction I shall modify this review. At this time, however, I'm disappointed in the thumb drive and Silicon Power.Dealing with this company I discover new definitions of BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE every day. The flash drive worked and then it didn't. I wrote to the company explaining the problem. I now have had eight replies from Codie of Silicon-Power. She has blamed me for user error. She has blamed Roku. She has asked for Amazon receipt three times (the first two times I sent them but for the third I write this note on Amazon reviews). She has blamed Amazon itself. Never has she or Silicon-Power ever acknowledged any responsibility. The behavior of this company is so at odds with all the others I have used on Amazon that I stand amazed. They could not care less about their customer nor their products. Quality Control must be an alien concept for these guys. They proudly state that they are from Taiwan (ROC) and not mainland China; it seems they have learned their capitalistic ideas from VW and GM: put out crap, then lie about it until you can't lie any more.$13. To myself I say it was only $13 and I can afford to lose it. However, I am mad as hell because Amazon, whose customer service is the best, would allow such a sleazy company to do business on its (Amazon's) website. Other companies glean the comment/reviews sections of their products, trying hard to make sure all of their customers are satisfied. This Silicon-Power band of thieves laugh at the suckers who buy their products. I was disappointed in their product; I am incensed with their customer service. To any one who gets this far in my comments, I strongly recommend you steer far, far clear on this company, their products and their service. They, by far, are the worst company I have encountered on Amazon.

Being that form factor above all else determined my purchase, I would say this is a great drive, very sturdy and hook to the key chain so it doesn't get lost. So far it has performed very well. USB 3.0 speeds are a great improvement over USB 2.0. You especially notice it when loading up one of these, it doesn't take forever like my USB 2.0 drives. So far it has performed flawlessly. Time will tell how well it stands up.

Love the small profile, sleek design and sturdiness of this puppy.I installed GRUB on this puppy, and by simply copying various iso images to a boot folder, I have a very versatile and powerful little multi-boot usb that I carry around with me wherever I go. The very small profile keeps my keychain from feeling bulky at all and with the sturdy zinc alloy case I don't worry about any mechancial failures on this guy. To top it off, it just looks sleek and sexy as hell. Seriously. My expectations were surpassed in every way. My only regret is not purchasing the 64gb model.In the future I really hope larger capacities become available because I will certainly be purchasing them.I do have one hiccup that I hit though. Since there is no mechanical stop to control how deep you push it in the USB slot, some computers seem to have trouble recognizing the drive if you push it in all the way to the back. It's not a huge issue, as you can just not push the drive in all the way, but it is a minor annoyance.

Compact, well-designed, and seemingly durable; however failed after 3 months of light usage. From what I can see, the contact pins inside the unit wore out..... which is very strange. My computer no longer recognizes the usb drive. It lends me to believe that design is poor. Spend the money and buy a device from la cie or another better known company.

I would give this 4.9 stars if I could. Sleek, strong, seemingly durable, and plenty of storage for your average flash drive.My only gripe is in the factory default formatting. For anyone who cares, this is an NTFS vs FAT difference, which is what prevented me from storing larger files that were a few gigs each.The process of reformatting it is really simple, but I wish I never had to do it in the first place. First world problems I guess.

Reviews mean a lot to me on Amazon, because they're almost exclusively how I decide between products. I don't give 1 star reviews without a reason, but Silicon's flash drives have certainly earned this low status. You can read the full review if you'd like, but I wrote in a tl;dr just below this paragraph for those who want a quick explanation.TL:DR; Terrible transfer rates (under 15Mb/s avg), drive failed twice in 8 months, horrible turnaround time with customer service for replacement.Let me start with the lesser of issues with the drive. The transfer rate is TERRIBLY inconsistent. During any file transfer, the speed would go anywhere from 1 kb/s (and stay there for a solid minute), up to 32 mb/s. Not only did transfer speeds fail to be anywhere near linear, they also stayed ridiculously far below what USB 3.0. I would say the flash drive was being limited by my personal hard drive, but I have tested it in numerous situations, and that is hardly the case. I have old USB 2.0 flash drives that are more reliable for transferring data in a timely manner, which is rather disappointing when you go for a product like this.Assuming the above wasn't a problem for you (unsure why you're buying a 3.0 USB then), within three weeks of using my first flash drive, it died. Data was irretrievable, and computers couldn't even register that the device was plugged in. This can happen with USBs, so I gave Silicon the benefit of the doubt, and sent in my drive for a repair/replacement, along with the promise of data recovery from the customer service rep I called. No more than 8 weeks later, I finally received a new flash drive in the mail, with the notification of all my data having been destroyed when the drive failed. Go another 5 months down the road, and my replacement USB has now failed. I have no intention of taking advantage of the warranty.I heavily recommend NOT buying this drive if you have any sort of serious need for using a USB on a regular basis. If you don't mind having to send the drive in the mail and not have it for 4 months out of the year, and comically slow transfer rates aren't an issue for you, then this USB is probably a fine option for you.

SP does it again. This is a solid USB drive, and not just for being sturdy.I have tested (benchmark and file transfer) it against several other thumb drives. The only ones that beat it in speed were also made by SP.Most USB 3.0 drives heat up when used. This one got warm, but stayed very short of hot.They make great products, and for a great price. I may be picking up a couple more of these soon (to put alternate OSs on, actually).

Mi son decisa a recensire questa chiavetta, ad un anno o forse più dall'acquisto, dando 5 stelle dopo averla dimenticata nella tasca dei jeans: è sopravvissuta ad un ciclo di lavaggio in lavatrice a 40° (ciclo lungo per cotone colorato) e ad una centrifuga a 1300 giri. Tirata fuori dal cestello e inserita nello slot è perfettamente funzionante come se nulla fosse accaduto! La ho comprata perché mi piaceva molto il design e le dimensioni ridotte, ma ho sperimentato la sua incredibile resistenza all'acqua. Soddisfattissima. Consiglio certamente il prodotto.

Es muy práctico y el diseño es muy bueno.Dimensiones pequeñas que hacen que se pueda transportar facilmente.No pienso probarlo pero, que sea hecho a prueba de agura (polvo y señales exteriores) lo hace muy atractivo si vas a guardar cosas personales e importantes como tu CV.

This is an excellent product with both design and quality. It is a very small and compact device but this causes no problems in its use. It seems to be very tough and withstanding. I keep it on my keys and it hasn't broken and it shows no wear. Item was well packaged.
