Smooth, easy to apply, no white cast
As a darker-skinned person, I have been on a mission to find a mineral sunscreen that is water-resistant with no chalky white cast and no sticky feeling AND no annoying fragrance. This one ticks all the boxes and it's very impressive that it wears so elegantly with 20% zinc oxide in the formula. I like to avoid the chemical ones, and I have found non-water-resistant mineral options that wear quite elegantly, but water-resistant options with an elegant wear had long eluded me. I'd love to always wear my favorite non-water-resistant spf, but unfortunately those are not so helpful for when you're at the beach/pool - on such days, I dread having to reach for the thick pasty gloopy water-resistant ones. I seriously wish I had found this sooner before spending on so many others that promised to be sheer zinc only to be the color and texture of white wall paint. My little one and I both have a medium brown skin tone so the chalky cast on most mineral spf turns us straight up grey/purple and worse yet, that grey purple cast lasts through multiple showers unless you seriously scrub it off your skin - not so great for kids or anyone with sensitive skin.So this one melts into the skin nicely with minimal effort and virtually no white cast. I probably wouldn't use it on the face as it's a little heavy for my oily/combo skin, but on a child's facial skin it would work just fine. It's not sticky at all, so if you're an adult with dry facial skin and/or don't mind a bit of dewiness, it could work on the face, too. I just prefer to invest in more lightweight elegant options for the face - and in general they seem to make more elegant formulas for the face in under 2oz sizes so they're not really applicable to the body, which is a bummer. While this isn't as small as the ones made for the face, since you need much more for the body, I wish it came in a 5oz size for the price. I have tested like 30 different mineral water-resistant options by now, and this one along with the C'est Moi sunshine sunscreen are the two best I've found. If price is a factor with this one, I would recommend checking out C'est Moi as it is similar in texture, also leaves no white cast, is also fragrance-free, is also completely zinc oxide formulation, and cheaper. Most importantly, if you have kids, this would make applying sunscreen on them much easier, since it's impossible to get kids to sit still for more than a couple seconds before they run off.

LOVE
I've tried so many sunscreen products. It's very important to me and I use it daily every single day of the year, rain or shine. Usually a product is good in many areas but doesn't check off everything on the list. This one is a pro to me for the following reasons...It's an elegant mineral sunscreen that doesn't sting my face or my eyes at all. My eyes are very sensitive so I must have a mineral sunscreen for that reason. Most mineral SS's are chalky, hard to rub in and don't work with makeup. The Blue Lizard SS was my HG for the longest time. I struggled with letting it go because I loved the sun protection it gave and I LOVED the mattifying capabilities. It was seriously like a primer. But the cons were it was just too thick and took too long to a) rub in, and b) dry down so I could apply my makeup. This is why I love the Cotz. It sinks in immediately and applies like a regular moisturizer. It's not mattifying but I'm fine with that bc of the other reasons why I love it. I have normal/combo skin and find I don't need moisturizer as this SS has a great deal of moisture. If you have very dry skin you might still need some underneath but I doubt it.On me it does not leave a white cast. It's not chalky. It dries down quickly. It's a great price and given the fact that we get 3.5oz instead of the usual pathetic 1.7oz this SS is so worth it in every way!If you're incredibly oily likely this won't work for you. But if you have normal, dry or combo skin then try this sunscreen. I've been so happy with it!

Truly no white cast!
I have been looking for a physical sunscreen (zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide based) that a) leaves no white cast, and b) isn't shiny or sticky. Easy to achieve for chemical sunscreen (but I'd rather NOT risk reaction and endocrine disruption with chemical sunscreen), but nearly impossible with physical sunscreen. I've tried A LOT of different ones, they all left a white cast to varying degrees. Some were pretty close, but when I looked at the active ingredient, it says "zinc oxide 1.7% + titanium dioxide 3.2%" , while claiming to be SPF 30--- are you f kidding me???!!!! They should be sued for flat out lying like that. An approximate way to calculate SPF: 1.6*zinc oxide percentage + 2.6*titanium dioxide (and also titanium dioxide only offers partial protection against UVA). For example, an zinc oxide 20% formula will offer SPF 32 protection. In the end, this is one of the only two that truly leave no white cast. It disappears seconds within application. See attached photo, Cotz (this product) is #4, #5 is REN Mineral 30 Mattifying sunscreen. With that said, it is still shiny and sticky (I have normal to slightly oily skin, YMMV). I suppose I could compensate by applying loose powder.Other sunscreen I've tried that might work depending on your skin type:REN Mattifying (#5 in the photo) --- this one also disappears and leaves no white cast, and isn't shiny or sticky at all -- on the flip side, it's dry and chalky.La Roche Posay Mineral 50 --- this one isn't as invisible as Cotz or REN, but the white cast is so slight that my tan skin can tolerate; more importantly, it is not shiny or sticky but also not dry and chalky at the same time, just the perfect balance.
