The SWR readings tell the story.
I took SWR readings at a number of frequencies, even a couple outside of 462 to 467 MHz, comparing this Tram antenna to 2 other antennas I used for my car. Car antennas were mounted magnetically on NMO mounts on the trunk as ground plane. Tram antenna was mounted on my house - as its for a base station. In the 462 and the 467 MHz ranges for my car antennas, one of the two is always more favorable. One has SWR 1.6 on 462 MHz, but 1.01 on 467 MHz, which is great since 467 is TX for repeaters. The other antenna gives me a read of 1.01 on 462 MHz and 1.38 on 467. Also not too bad really. So first might be better for repeater use, second one for Simplex use (but only by a little bit). Either one good enough for general use. HOWEVER, in the case of this Tram BR-6140 antenna - I get SWR = 1.01 on both 462.xxx and 467.xxx. I even tried a quick test on frequencies outside 462 to 467, between 5 MHz and 20 MHz lower, and still got SWR readings at or below 1.08. At 144 - 152 MHz I got readings over 3.8, but who cares, its not designed for that. But that reading still beat the heck out of my other antennas which posted up an SWR about twice that. The antenna sits 25 feet above ground, maybe just a few feet above the tallest part of my roof. The reception is excellent, the transmission is as good as can be expected for my 25 watt base station, and I've hit the repeaters that I should be hitting, with 10/10 reception. I could not be more pleased with this antenna, especially at the price point (at $60-ish). It is super lightweight and is just would make an incredible antenna for a temporary base station setup or potentially even an on-the go backpack mount antenna - if you need serious comms that is. The capability of this unassuming little stick - considering its negligible size, weight, and price, make it a perfect candidate for portable base station use. Or if you have a utilitarian vehicle with good mounting points you could also use it as a mobile jeep / truck antenna. It almost makes me want to buy a truck - just so I can use the antenna on it. It doesn't really "go" with my Chrysler 300.

Excellent
I wanted an antenna that was pretuned for a gmrs and unity gain since I live in the mountains so I chose this one. The first time I keyed up and heard that I was crystal clear on the other end from my garage I was stunned. with my magnetic base antenna I usually had to leave the house and drive to the top of the hill just to be heard. I read that this antenna is paintable as long as you avoid metallic paint so I chose a matte black and gave it a coat so that it wouldnt stand out on my van so much. I mounted it on my mirror and so far have been amazed at its performance.

Good antenna
I haven't done any testing other than seeing how well my repeater is working. Seems awesome for the price.

Great Little Antenna
I got my radio today and hooked it up for testing. I use a 25 watt GMRS radio (FCC call sign WRCN832) on 462.5750 MHz (Chanel 16). The other end reported my transmission as crisp and clear from about 17 miles away. FWD power was 24.54 watts with REF 0.24 and SWR 1:1.22. No tuning was required on the antenna. Fantastic antenna at that price.

Not worthy of Tram-Browning label
I have used Tram and Browning antennas for years and have been pleased with the quality and performance. This model doesn't come close. All other of their base antennas I've used have the connectors protected from weather in an aluminum mounting sleeve. Not this one. It's right out there in the wind and the rain. It's also a "unity gain" antenna (translation: no gain) in a size that should have considerable gain.I bought two - returned one after installing the other. I suspect I'll replace it soon. For Tram and Browning antennas go someplace like theantennafarm.com for MUCH better product descriptions and quality antennas..
