I have been using these mandrels to bend and shape wire for jewelry making. Works well to make different shaped findings or connectors. I use bigger mandrel areas to make bigger pieces of wire to connect together to make jewelry. Can use base metal, silver or gold. Works well. Best way to work the metal into place. Works best with wire gauges 16,18,20,22. 24 gauge wire is a bit thin for what I'm currently doing. I'd recommend this to anyone working with metal wire for jewelry purposes. Has oval, triangle square and circle with handle to help hold. Great product! Very Useful tool!

I paid less than $7.00 dollars for this item, and it has revolutionized my wire work—seriously. The components are plastic, yet I have used up to 16 gauge copper wire with absolutely no trouble. It enables a person to make matching earring base forms in mere minutes, a task that previously took a good deal of time, especially as I am such a perfectionist. Each mandrel is created so that the bottom piece can be shared between the four mandrels. I wish that piece were flat-bottomed, but that is just my personal preference. I have numbered the steps on each mandrel to make it easier to keep track of the step I am using, especially when I am making matching components. The mandrels also make it easy to wire wrap your loops, as they provide a base to work against as you twist the wire. I thought that the plastic might be too flimsy to hold up to the tension I was placing on it as I wrapped the wire, but to date, I have had no issues. It's a great item for a great price!

Besides the slick plastic the actual size is at best a 24mm cabs in diameter. Not very useful for pendants....earrings maybe some quickly pendants but nothing serious. Heck they are to small to do frames for anything but small cabichons or beads...
