Sashco - 14004-2 Through The Roof Sealant, 1 Gallon Container, Clear (Pack of 2)

This stuff is the bomb! It works every time! I did have some issues getting it here and when it did get here the can was pretty mangled and I had to have a neighbor cut the top of it off in order to get to the goop, but once I did and I got it on my leak immediately stopped and this stuff usually lasts a few years. I'm going to try to never be without it again! And just FYI the sellers are absolutely outstanding! They had me covered from beginning to end!

1 gallon really goes a long way. Take your time, sit down on your roof and look closely for any cracks or splits and go to town. I'm waiting on the next big rain.

Expensive compared to fibered and rubberized roof cement but stopped some leaks that the cheaper stuff couldn’t. I have a tar-and-gravel flat carport roof that runs right into the sloped roof of the house and the area where they join has been leaking worse and worse over the past years. I’ve slapped gallons of the fibered and rubberized roof cement on those areas several times and they have proved to be better than nothing – but not much better. Especially considering how long it takes to trowel that stuff in place. This year I finally broke down and ordered a gallon can of the Through The Roof stuff to see whether it would prove the old maxim, “You get what you pay for.” The application was easier and a bit faster than the cheaper stuff and according to the label I didn’t have to worry about the weather. I applied it with a four inch foam brush pretty much over areas where the fibered stuff was applied. The smell was not nice, but being out in the open air made it manageable. Following advice from other reviewers I used the entire can. It was dry and sunny that day but it rained quite a bit the next. That would have been an issue with the cheap stuff but is supposed to not matter with Through The Roof. The application stopped about 90% of leaks that multiple applications of the cheaper stuff have not. How much are you saving if you buy a gallon of roof sealer for $20, take the time to put it on and it does next to nothing? Now, I’m still going to keep some the cheap stuff around because it does a good job on many other areas of obvious disrepair, but for some reason it just wouldn’t do the job at that carport roof junction. I wish I could just coat the entire roof with Through The Roof, but I’m not in a position right now to take out a second mortgage.

The product itself is one of the best - I use it for many things on the roof. It’s easy to apply and control with a chip brush, I love how clear it is, it bonds and seals excellent and I’ve gone back to jobs years later to find it still holding up strong. It is one of my go to sealants. The reason I had to give 4 stars instead of 5 is because most of the time I receive it with the can smashed, lid popped and sealant everywhere - super annoying. Just adding some bubble wrap to the package would earn the 5th star!

To date over the last two years I have gone through 10 gallons of this great sealant. This product beats every other roof sealant product I have used for the last Twenty years. I only wish they sold in 5 gallon cans. PLUSES: ++++++++++++++++ Great for Steel roofs here in the AZ Sun were the metal is expanding and contracting all day long. Have used for other seal jobs as gutter repair, gluing and screwing two surfaces together, painting over fiberglass cracked surfaces. NOTE: Clean your surfaces well, for a good seal no loose materials or dirt. Shelf live long + Printable. MINUSES: ----------------------- Fumes, you need to be outdoors. Ware old cloths and toss able rubber gloves. Toss your 2" to 4" cheap paint brushes when done or leave in the can, 4" rollers with heavy nap work also, no pan. Will wash off hands if not dried but on your cloths you own it. Will run on very hot surfaces so make it a morning job. Drying time 2 to 3 days but will skim over in a few hours. Very windy days product will clump up so apply faster. Works in rain??? Many more ++++s then ------s with this great sealant also buy the calking tubes for small jobs easier to apply. Good Luck

It gets a little confusing ordering this. This is a pack of two one gallon cans of Sashco "Through The Roof Sealant." It is clear, dries clear and has the consistency of model airplane glue. I have an asphalt single roof that connects to a steel roof. After putting a new asphalt roof on, I noticed two or three leaks right where the shingles meet the steel roof. The roofer attempted to fix the leak 4 times with a black tar or rubber substance, but it never worked. The seam where two different roofs met are often difficult to keep from leaking.are notoriously difficult to stop a leak. I used the "Through The Roof Sealant" on the entire joint where the shingles met the steel--about 50 feet. I probably overdid it but I used a 4 inch paintbrush and applied it starting about 4 inches up on the shingles to about 4 inches on the metal roof. I put it on thick as I didn't want any more ceilings to need paint. I applied in near sunset when that part of the roof was in the shade. It was a hot August day. It was easy to apply with the only problem being the extreme heat and humidity in Mobile, Alabama. After four months and three hurricanes there is no sign of any leakage anywhere. It would be obvious that it was leaking before using this product. How long will it last? Who knows, but my plan right now is to apply it every 2-3 years as that is easier and cheaper than painting ceilings.

This is a great product but can was damaged and leaking when delivered. Not enough packing material to stabilize the can and the plastic bag which looked like it was supposed to contain the can was not closed around the can. A big mess when I opened the box.

One of my roof trusses had broken, on a knot in the wood, close to the edge of my roof. It created a low spot that allowed water to pool in one spot. I didnt know any of this until I saw a wet spot on my ceiling. I ordered this to get me by until I could make a repair. Well long story short, it wound up staying on the roof for over a year. I never had another leak. Great stuff.

This was recommended to me by a contractor when I needed to waterproof a roof from which shingles had blown off. It lasts a long time and is clear so it is not obvious. It has got the roof through periods when it is too wet, cold or slippery to repair.

I used this to touch up wind-worn shingles. Seems to work well and is easy to apply; it is quite thick like runny honey.

Did exactly what we needed it to do until we could replace our roof. A gooey mess but very useful for many applications 👌
