I used this on tree stumps from two large 100 year-old trees. Other bits failed, bent, or irretrievably got stuck. This one worked the best, but it requires a powerful drill with corded electricity, not a handheld battery drill. Still in good condition after doing the job.

These work great. Used them to drill through railroad ties which is rough on everything. Was able to drill about 20 holes 12 inches in before the bit finally wore out which is about the same as a bit from the hardware store that was twice the price. So this is definitely a great value and better bang for your buck.

Value priced and looks like it will do the job. I need to drill a 24 inch long hole in a 4 X 4.

The bit is sharp and straight. You don't need to put a lot of effort into having it drill through. It clears its chips well enough. It bored, full bit depth, into the side of an 24" diameter oak round without issues. Drilling top down, bound the bit up at 1/2 inch depth and again in a different location at 1" in depth. It shouldn't have any issues boring into construction lumber. I was using a 10 amp, corded, dewalt hammer drill, in the drill setting. I am going to purchase a more powerful drill and try again at a later date.

I ordered 2 on separate orders. A 10" and an 8" length. My first one was working well as designed. It ruined on me after only the 8th hole drilling. All my fault. I accidently hit a Simpson Strong Tie 1 1/2" hanger nail on the other side of the double joist and 4x6 post. The screw tip got destroyed and got dull of course but completed about 2 more holes before I went to a spade bit to complete the job. Not the tool's fault for being destroyed. Drills through pressure treated lumber with ease and minimal need to wobble the bit. It seems to pull itself in as well like some of the name brand auger type wood drill bits. I like the 3/8" hex type shank. More torque allowed with a 20v Dewalt drill driver. Thought I was going to be able to use it with my 12v Dewalt impact driver in a pinch but the shank is not going to fit the 1/4" impact driver's bit holder. Works well and my 2nd one is doing well with none of my mistakes from the first one.

I am trying to make a hole in a piece of wood of 4 inches of deeper, and the drill bit doesn't work properly and loses the edge.

I purchased this in order to make holes in a tree root i am ATTEMPTING to remove. I add to the hole Magnesium Sulphate ie EPSOM SALTS which goes down to holes, dehydrates the roots making them easy to remove! This Drill Bit was NOT successful, it got stuck and broke my drill!

I drilled a bunch of holes and it didn't break. Much better than the other bit I bought before which broke off and it's still lodged in the wood.
