Shooting Love, 200X [Japan Import]

Shooting Love 200X contains two of Triangle Services games, Exzeal and Trizeal. Those of you with a Dreamcast or PS2 may recognize Trizeal, however this is the first console release of Exzeal to my knowledge. There are also some bonus features such as the "skill tests" which present the player with a variety of short challenges.By the title Shooting Love, it's not referring to the first-person type. This is the arcade type where you pilot space ships, dodge bullets, and shoot never-ending streams of firepower.Triangle Service games have always been a bit of an acquired taste, and I wouldn't say they are for everyone. You won't find high resolution sprites or screens buried in bright neon colors here. You won't find a game that rewards a brain dead "just shoot stuff" mentality.What Triangle Service does do well, however, is make games that completely revolve around manipulating the scoring mechanics. This package is a testament to that philosophy. Stressing this point right off the bat is the ship select screen. Not only does your shot type change based on which ship you choose, but the scoring mechanics as well. My personal favorite is the XII Stag wiggle-attack ship, where moving the joystick left/right produces shock waves to attack enemies next to you and gives bonuses for doing so. (I wish this package included the XII Stag game as well)Think of each enemy attack wave as a puzzle. How can you most effectively eliminate them while maximizing the multiplier? The solution will be different based on which ship you are using. Once you get used to thinking this way, you'll notice enemy spawn points are very specifically placed for taking advantage of certain shot types, and suddenly everything makes sense.This isn't really a game to sit down with some buds, have a few beers, and waste time blowing stuff away. It begs to be studied and mastered.The menu system is a bit weird, but it is very fast to navigate once you get used to it. New game modes and options are added the longer you play, so definitely look around after playing a few rounds.

This video game compilation features Trizeal and its sequel, Exzeal, as well as an array of side games (one that looks a lot like some kind of Geometry Wars). However, the game that has kept me coming back for hours and hours of gameplay is Exzeal.The beauty of this top-scrolling shmup game lies in its simplicity: fly up, down, left, right, shoot all the while avoiding bullets, lasers, bombs, errant spaceships, asteroids, etc. You can choose from four types of spacecrafts each of which has their advantages and disadvantages during gameplay and score. The scoring differs with each spaceship, so a player has to pay attention as to how they're eliminating the enemy (up close, from far away, two or three at a time, using a bomb, using a power up blast, and such). The level of difficulty can be changed in the options. The default difficulty should be fine with almost any gamer and they should be able to reach higher levels with some practice. This mode only offers two continues, which means that one cannot continue indefinitely... and has the potential of being frustrating, but fun. In this sense, it's not only retro- in its genre, look, and style, but also in gameplay.The graphics can sometimes look simple and I blame most of that on the colour scheme used: lots of greens, washed out browns, grays, and such. None of the rich colour schemes of other shmups such as Raiden, R-Type. Then again, everything in this game seems to have been made with a purpose and it could also be that the programmers really wanted that retro- look to go even on the designs. The music is great ranging from upbeat SynthPop, some Techno, and there's even a Space Opera song thrown in there on one of the latter levels. Great stuff. If you can get the OST, I'd recommend it.I'm glad there are still developers out there for this type of game. It's a damn shame shmups have been phased out in most NextGen consoles (you won't be seeing these games for the Wii or the PS3). This is definitely one of the main strengths of the Xbox 360.Lastly, and it's unfortunate to say, this game is region-locked. So, gamers would either have to have a Japanese (or Asia) Xbox 360 or have their North American console modified to be able to play this game (and run the risk of being banned from live gaming). Also, the game should retail for no more than $80 USD. If you see it listed for more than that, then move on. Try looking for it at play-asia, yesasia, or renchi first.

STGに関する色々な課題をクリアする「シューティング検定」が楽しいです。初心者でも少しずつ上達していくのもわかります。オンに関してシルバー会員でもランキングで順位や、他の人のリプレイが見れるます。自分より少し上の順位の人のプレイや良い目標になります。ちなみに連射機なしコントローラーの方がおそらく楽しめます。実績も面白いので初心者にもおすすめです。

ほとんど社長一人でゲームを作っている会社のゲーム。さすがにマンパワー不足でグラフィック、音楽は安っぽく、ゲーム自体の出来もそれなり。ただ、アイデアは面白いですね。特に一押しなのが「シューティング技能検定」です。シューティングと言えば個人の技量がハッキリと試されるゲームでありながら、こうした客観的に能力を測るゲームというのは今までありませんでした。しかも、ただ淡々と測るのではなく、工夫された試験ばっかり。社長の独特な雰囲気を醸し出す演出には思わずニヤリとしてしまう。他のゲームも、所々に変わったアイデアを見つけることが出来るゲームばかりです。個人的には、特典の「ナイスDVD2」が気に入っています。ただの攻略DVDかと思いきや、オーディオコメントが面白かったり、「シューティングラブ。甲子園」のハイライトも収録されています。

最初は興味なかったのですが、シューティング検定なるものがあると聞き、やってみたくて購入したところ、初心者の私もついハマってしまいました。でも下手なのであんまりいい年齢ではありませんが…。ちなみに空き缶入れが一番ハマりました。今までのシューティングにない着目点が良いと思います。シューティングだらけのミニゲーム集っぽいのもいいと思いました。オススメの一品です！

「シューティング技能検定」はオフラインではあるけど、友人を家に連れてきたときに「地球防衛軍３」と共に友達とワイワイ楽しむ、XBOX360には数少ない接待ゲームとしてもってこいな一品。「エクスジール」と「トライジールリミックス」は往年の時代に出ていた敵出現パターンを覚えて攻略するもので、最近の弾幕避けゲームに飽きた方なら。いや、昔のハドソンのキャラバンシューティングに情熱を注いだ方なら。「マイナスゼロ」は最初いきなり即死してゲームオーバーになるかもしれませんが、数回プレイすると一定時間無敵のときがあり、そこでまたロックオンショット決めて無敵を維持させると画面が派手になってかなりウハウハ…というような面白いゲームだとわかってくる秀作。ほぼ一人で制作されたゲームだけあり、XBOX360のグラフィックを駆使したゲームではありませんけど、思わず吹き出す「実績解除の楽しさ」とかアイデアがてんこ盛りに詰まっているので、これからもアイデア重視のゲームがトライアングルサービスから放出されるためにも買ってあげてください、お願いします…って応援したくなるような一品です。(笑)

ゲーセンでちょっとだけプレイして気になっていたゲームでしたが、タイトルが思い出せず放置してました。　が、どちらかと言えば横ＳＴＧ派で、タイトーＳＴＧとＲ−ＴＹＰＥとアインハンダーをこよなく愛する私には分かりました。　この気持ち、正しく愛だッ！！　最近のＳＴＧはあっさり自機が強くなっちゃう上に、ゲーム中に分岐する事も無く最初に選んだ機体でタイプが決まってしまったり、そもそもパワーアップ自体なかったりしていましたがこのゲームは違う！　任意のタイミングで３種に変形できる自機。それぞれ全５段まで任意に強化可能で、４段階以上になると他形態でも使用可能になる武器システム！　フルパワーになった自機は正に向かう所敵無し！　しかしッ！　たったの１ミスで全て消える……ッ！　圧倒的……ッ！　圧倒的屈辱……ッ！　圧倒的絶望……ッ！　必死で立て直そうにもそうぽんぽんアイテムが出る訳でもない親切すぎない設計……ッ！　だが、それがいい。　とにかく、フルパワー状態の圧倒的強さと、１ミスからの建て直しのキツさ！　今のＳＴＧに足りない物がここにあった！　……いや、トライジールの発売そのものは大分昔ですけどね。　トライジール以外は正直オマケ程度にしか思えないので★３です。でも、トライジールだけで★５です。
