great inspiration!
I like to just doodle and create my own maps. Often inspired by films I'm watching, or childhood memories. This book provides great instruction on how to create all the details that make for an awesome believable map. I wish he provided a variety of styles for the map components but you can easily flip to the finished maps section for more inspiration.

Very nice for world building and fantasy cartography as it should be
It has a nice layout and is a good place to learn how to plan out your fantasy map. Maybe could use more content but it is set up orderly and it will come in handy for my map I'm creating no doubt. I also wish they had a hard cover but I was happy to see it was the same length and width as my D&D books. Very good art in it too. Enjoyed reading this one and it will be referenced in the future.

Very Basic, cool stuff though
Probably good for some people. If you have Pinterest, you'd be better off looking through maps there. Take what you like. This book was very basic. Probably should have been titled, "VERY basic Fantasy Mapping: Drawing Worlds with Tilted Cs, Ms, and Squiggly Lines" this is the best book I've purchased on the topic so far.

Fun
What’s great about this is that it makes you think about actual geography too.

Super Buch

Fantasy Mapping: Drawing Worlds--A multisided Masterwork
Fantasy Mapping: Drawing Worlds is a multisided masterwork by a unique artist, a fascinating story-teller, and a world-class cartographer. All the primary strengths of the great teachers, Jones exhibits. He honors the heart of his disciplines of geography, map-making, and art. He is orderly and intriguing, artistic and revealing, and most importantly, he is interesting. And practical: he finally taught me how to draw a mountain, beyond a single curved line. Starting with this book, you could create a master geographer, a master historian, a master writer, a clever artist, even a thoughtful reconciler of humanity’s problems embedded in the fifteen superb finished maps, Jones draws. This volume should be on all American and Canadian school curricula as a fascinating way of teaching geography, history, social relations, and drawing and written craftsmanship. There is a clarity of description and direction in the writing. And as Jones demonstrates, there is nothing that cannot be imagined and put on a map. Respectfully submitted, DCJ

More of the same
Beautiful pictures, but lacking a little bit of variation.

One for absolute beginners only
If you've already managed to doodle a map somewhere, (no matter how awful you think it is), you probably dont need this book. Some basic information on the first half dozen pages, quickly covering some rudimentary geography, other than that, there's little of real value in this book I'm afraid. The information and drawing style is very basic, uninspiring and childish. Probably decent for an absolute beginner, but to anyone else I would just look at a few maps on Pinterest, you'll learn a lot more.
