What's the purpose of "high altitude"? If I live in NYC (sea level), do I need a low-altitude/ normal ball?

High altitude balls don't contain as much pressure because normal balls become too active in the relatively lower atmospheric pressure of high altitudes. As you might expect, high altitude balls can be a bit more sluggish at sea level. Having said that, if you play at my level, you probably won't notice the difference.

I guess it can be beaten but for me it was a great buy .Not only for tennis but for physical therapy that's why I bought them.Also,my German Shepherd has not destroyed them yet!!!

This product is clearly labelled "Made in China" so any search seeking a Made in USA product should not result in this product. I do not know why the search is faulty or misleading to that regard, hopefully Amazon resolves it.
